Someone Stole my License Plate.

Just woke up right now went to the car to get something and i noticed the license plate missing. I already reported to the police, ill take pics later. So confused why they would take the whole plate?

theDreamer 08-26-2011 10:21 AM

Was it a custom plate?

WAGAWAGA 08-26-2011 10:26 AM

Nope. But the parking lot i park in had a lot of reports of cars getting broken into and stuff. Im just glad my car is still here.

they might put your plate on another car and use that for some evil-doings...

:iagree: I put locking type bolts when I use to live in a sketchy area after someone stole my plate. Use the allen wrench type at least. Most theives won't carry allen wrenches around and will move on to another car.

^ what if they get pissed that they couldnt get the plate and decides to mess up the car instead? jkjk i will once i get my new plates

Probably took the whole plate to steal the registration sticker.
That is how I would do it since they are getting harder to steal with all the cuts in them.

:iagree:

I've thought about using that excuse (my plate got stolen) if I ever get pulled over for having no front license plate. I highly doubt they'll buy it though.

Taking a registration sticker is for when you had valid plates at one point and they expired.

Taking the whole plate means you probably stole whatever you're driving. Common theme is to steal your plate, and replace it with the previous plate you stole. Takes longer for you to notice a different plate as opposed to it being missing, which gives me more time to use your plate before it is reported.

I don't understand why we would want to see pics of OP's missing plate though. Doesn't sound very interesting.

The way I see it... only two possible answers...
1) They stole your license plate so that they can steal your tag. The 2011 sticker or whatever sticker you got.
2) And personally I think it might of fell off while your driving but you just didn't notice it.

It has to be one or the other.
My dad told me when putting on your tag in your license plate make sure to get a knife and cut it in multiple ways so that they can't peel it off. Mine looks like a checker board =)
