Smoked film headlamps/ Blacked out emblems pics

Boys,
The film because its so thick is a little bit of a bitch to lay down.
I wanted to change the front head on appearance to tone down all the headlamp look.
Also by blacking out the emblems makes you look more at the body lines I think.
I just got this car and the paddle shifters are rocket fast WOW FUN...
There is no way a manual can shift this lightning quick...

PS: I used the plastic dip spray from Home depot....real easy to use!!!!

PS: If blacked out the whole healamp...then would'nt i look like every other Z with smoked out headlamps..wow that's different.
"outside the box"
Here,s is a night pic...I,am the last guy that.s wants to look like everyone else

:ugh2:

I agree that the 7AT shifts faster. That's pretty much a given at this point.

thugstatZ 08-15-2011 02:17 PM

nice! excuse my ignorance but why didn't you tint the whole front lights?

kenchan 08-15-2011 02:44 PM

dpirch531 08-15-2011 02:45 PM

You should've tinted the entire head light. I'm not really a fan of half the headlight. Unless there was a reason you only did half?

shadoquad 08-15-2011 03:00 PM

Pretty sure the lights are tinted that way for design purposes. It gives the car a different look. I'm not a fan of it, but it is at least fairly original.

Z-ELVIS 08-15-2011 04:45 PM

I wanted the brightest headlamp possible at night but not showing the
whole headlamp. With a 3/4 qtr.film job I still get the full effect of the Xenon and I like the slits exposed for a different appearance. I applied the film myself so I figured no problem if I didn't like it. Cruise on!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to paint the side markers and door handles next.

Did you remove the 370Z from the back?

The vertical door handles are so unique to the Z though, why hide them?

christian370z 08-16-2011 11:25 AM

^Agreed, I think it is a signature touch and they don't look too bad in my opinion.

DJ-of-E 08-16-2011 12:02 PM

Do not come to California with smoked headlights, you definitely gonna get pulled.

becasue they look cheap and ugly.

XwChriswX 08-16-2011 04:13 PM

Wow, you just made a Japanese car even look Japanese... :wtf2:

( Click to show/hide )
I'm sorry if that offends anyone but that's as anti-racist as I can make it. :rofl2:

Because on black it stands out like a sore thumb. I want a BLACK car, not a black car with silver spots all over it. To me they were an eyesore, and when painted black = money.

Just my :twocents:

Because then it wouldn't look like an Audi:roflpuke2:

Cmike2780 08-16-2011 04:24 PM

Makes it look like a sleepy catfish. Different doesn't always mean it looks good. Not my style, but to each his own. The blacked out front emblem look good, but shaved emblems would be even better.

It's your car OP, do whatever makes you happy.

Red__Zed 08-16-2011 04:44 PM

I bet that light scheme helps the 7at shift even faster.

kenchan 08-16-2011 04:45 PM

you mean fastestest?

I think a more sophisticated edge, and one that covered the chrome strip, would have looked better - see the black line in that attached picture.

ditto.

i like that you are trying to be different, but your design looks like you were trying to use up some left over window tint scrap. Maybe if you had continued even further out of the box you would have nailed it. I can imagine its very hard to cut curves with tint film, and then getting it to lay down the way you want is hard too. AND THEN you would have to duplicate it on the other light, so i can understand why you took the simpler approach.

Interesting look. Kinda reminds me of a Z that just got back from an Allman Bros concert.

Carno 08-17-2011 12:29 AM

Eh, not a fan of the half tinted headlight at all.

Just looks... odd.
