People lean on your car. Do you say something?
I parked my Z at work today under the tree with decent shade. I happened to take a walk around the building and saw a group of 5 people conversing under the tree and three of them were leaning on my Z. I was like WTF?
there were another car parked nearby but it was in partial shade. They are my co-workers. we dont work on the same team but in the same building. I dont know them and they dont know me but we've seen each other. I was f*cking mad, so i rushed back to my cube to get the key fob to move the car, but by the time i went outside the building, they all left to go inside. They had no idea it was my car. what would you guys do? Would you just walk up to them and tell them not to lean on your car? I'm sure they will spread the words around. |
If it was mine I'd have said something. Sounds like you had a little time to think so why not get clever and say something cool but critical.
|
That is one of the most inconsiderate things you can do to someone who actually cares about their car. If I saw someone leaning against my car, I would ask them to please get off the car and then ask them why they feel they can lean up against and scratch a car that is not their own.
|
I can understand why you didn't say anything. But I would of told them please do not touch my car. I wouldn't of bothered explaining how they might be scratching the paint I think my expression would be enough.

Press the panic button and scare em away. Hehe Make a visit to your car once in avwhile during a break and make sure. Or install an automatic alarm for everytime someone messes wit it. But if it continues, you have to say something. Dont give them the nice guy attitude. Why give them respect if they wont give your car respect. Theyre obviously douches if they have the audacity to even learn on a coworkers 370z!! This aint no crap piece of car! They think your car is some sort of STOOL when theyre out hanging out. I say GIVE THEM THE GET THE F**K OUT TREATMENT!

If I see people leaning on, sitting on, or placing objects on my car, I will immediately give them the evil eye and maintain direct eye contact until they move it. (Which usually is enough) for the rest of the knuckledraggers that don't get it, I ask them to please move and/or remove the object. Thanking them for doing so afterwards.

I have done it. I will continue to do it. I do not touch other peoples cars also.
So far nobody has gotten upset about it, I think they all understood. |
People who do that are idiots and usually drive nothing to be proud of which makes them unable to recognize a well maintained vehicle. If you can lean on another person's car (especially if you know that they strive to keep their vehicle clean) without getting that awkward guilty feeling then I would say you probably don't care about cars and definitely don't know how to take care of one. I hate when people touch my car at all. It's like when someone touches your TV screen, where's the common sense?

Mantella87 got it exactly right...I never understood the people who think thats ok
I haven't caught anyone doing that to the Z, I would say something though. Came out from a restaurant once, we drove the wife's 328xi and 2 guys were leaning on it. I just walked up and was like "Seriously?!?" and they were like..."sorry" with a sheepish smile. Wife thought it was hot cause I usually avoid confrontation lol...its about respecting other peoples property. |
I look at my car. Closely. Then I look at their asses to see if they have rivets on their jeans. Then I nicely explain that I've had friends who've had to pay hundreds of dollars in paint work not knowing that their jeans caused damage to a car. And try to make it sound like I'm doing them a favor. Dumb asses!

Conservation between me and someone leaning (touching) my car:
Me: Wow! Is that your car? Them: Huh? No it's not my car. Me: Oh, I assumed that you wouldn't have such a lack of respect for someone else's property. Actually, IT'S MY CAR SO GET OFF IT! Where it goes from there is up to them but as Carl from "Caddyshack" says... "I will teach you the meaning of the word respect." :) |
If I walk up and see someone leaning on my car I say "Hey Azzhole, stop leaning on my car"
