Long Island Hail Storm

So I'm not sure how many people are aware of the weird weather we had the other day. On Western Long Island there was a pretty horrific hail storm. And being in the insurance industry I'm getting a lot of claims

My friend was working in the area that got hit and took some pictures/video and I figured I'd share with everyone!

I heard about this coming, and quickly through the Z in the garage. Luckily the storm didnt reach us.

Nick911sc 08-02-2011 08:47 AM

Yea, passed over us in Glen Cove as well

I think my dad would have had a stroke if his GT-R got destroyed lol

The only natural disaster that can possibly do damage to my car is an earthquake big enough to bring the house down..

I love cali a lil more now after looking at those pics. Hope you get it fixed though

:icon14: this makes no sense. id rather have hail on my car than big earthquake to bring down everthing (house and cars). :icon17:

Oh i think you misunderstood what i said. The chances of a hailstorm/blizzard over there is far greater than the chances of an earthquake big enough to bring down the house. Thus theres a higher chance of damaging the car.

Been living in cali for more than 10 years and havent experience any big earthquakes (knock on wood). :eekdance:

That looks nasty, I got stuck in a hailstorm when I lived back in Greenwich Connecticut in my Saab which thankfully was a convertible which decreases the amount of horizontal panels that can be damaged. The hail was marble sized but nothing like this!

No damage happened to be though.

You know what's crazy? I work in Tarrytown, upstate NY, and I was going to stay late (till 7PM) if my girl had to work. She wasn't, so I left at around 5pm. It was like 6PM and my mother calls me (she works upstate, too,) flipping out about the storm, asking if I was still at work. I didn't realize how bad the situation was till I got to work today and every one asked me how was my car. I was confused until I looked out the window into the parking lot and saw some of their cars with dents all over them. I was like .

I'm thankful I left before it happened.

I watched this storm at work. It went right around us. It knocked out power at West Hampton and delayed alot of flights coming in and out of my airport.

P.S Z was in the garage.

You sure you guys don't live in Iowa?!?!?! Dude, that happens like weekly here. Annoying. The storm late last year, caused so much damage around here, including both my daily drivers, along with hundred of other cars in the city. PDR guys were making a killing.

(that's why, Zena never gets driven in ANY precipitation ;))

Now that I'm driving my Z to work in cedar rapids, I'm TERRIFIED of hail. I've been checking the weather religiously, haha.

Unrelated side note, it only cost me $55 to fill up almost my whole tank with 91 octane today (only thing available close to my work). I was expecting 80+ every time so not bad.

Dzel 08-03-2011 09:01 AM

Damn haven't seen a storm like that in a long time

Sending you a PM... need your contact info so you can join us in our meets.
