btw, do they still have that DSP(?) where you give the military 10grand and you are given 11 grand back after the deployment? well actually it would be less now. you kids stay over there for less than a year. (be thankful)

but if they still have that, do it man. and easy extra grand. maybe it was GSP... I remember cuz its one letter away from TSP....

Depending on how long you are gone, you should sell your existing car and sit on some cash or short term invest and save. Not having car insurance at 22 will really help. Pull the trigger on a good deal from a forum member or buy one when you get back. IMHO you are just losing money having the car sit there without the ability to enjoy it.

I agree with the statement in red...Im in the Mil, and whenever I deployed I got rid of any unneeded finacial burden.. however I disagree with the green... because I only get to drive my Z's 3-4.5 months out of the year! but it's totally worth it for me..

The Savings Deposit Program is still there and anyone who can should take maximum advantage of its 10% interest on up to $10,000. It's not well advertised and you will have to hassle finance to max it out. I did, free $1000

KillerBee370 08-01-2011 03:54 PM

Dude... you're 22.

Take it from a guy on his second wife and has 5 kids (one almost as old as you). And I'm only 38!

Do for you until around 30 years of age. Then do for some female that you feel is worth your time.

^excellent advice.

But we men sometimes like to use the 'wrong head' to think with. (Me included at 22, lol) Not directed to the OP, just a side comment.

thanks for all the input everyone, i really just dont want to get this car and have to trade it in at all actually, i want to keep this car for life ppl, but maybe i should just give in and get like an evo or an sti lol, i still have alot of time to think about this choice but damn is it hard. Thanks again everyone!

Dzel 08-01-2011 09:35 PM

I think you should wear condoms or stay abstenent and get the Z the sacrifice is worth it!

Guard Dad 08-01-2011 11:39 PM

I've only had 2 cars where family or other concerns didn't dictate the type of car I had to buy. The first of them was a used 1965 Sunbeam Tiger roadster, I was about 22 and had the car for about 3 years. Great fun but almost useless for anything but me driving to work.

Fast forward to last summer, I'm 61 and I got my Z. Great fun, not very useful but way better than the Tiger. In the time between those two cars I've had many enjoyable cars but none of them were just for me like the Z and the Tiger.

If this girl is the one and a family is in the plan, well, that's way more important that any car. My kids have given me so much more than any car could ever give.

BUT, if your girl is important enough to include in your decision and she thinks a Z would be fun and you both understand it's limitations, my advice would be to get the Z. It could be a long long time before you have another shot a car like the Z. The G37 is a great car but in your case it sounds more like a compromise rather than your first choice.

The other thing is to take care of yourself, come back alive and well and we all look forward to see you posting pictures of your car (whatever it is) when you get back.
