Thanks guys for all the supports!
Now as for the uhal, we did get the insurance and we got the cheapest. Which only covers uhal itself and nothing else. The reason why we got the cheapest insurance is because our moving location was less than half a mile away. Never thought something like this can happen. Also the estimate for the repair came around $4500.00. So am I supposed to let my roommate pay for the deductibles? |

*sigh* You/your friend are driving a large vehicle where you are unfamiliar of its dimensions and viewpoints. Next time, even if it's 2 blocks away, get full coverage. |
don't lie
Just tell the truth to your insurance. Your out the deductible but the car will get repaired. As for your friend, he should be helping out. But, what the Hell was your Z in the same state when your friend was backing the U haul?

Best thing would be to have your roommate pay for the damages out of pocket. Chances are, he will have to reimburse your insurance company anyway.
What typically happens when someone gets hit by someone without insurance is your insurance will pay (assuming you have full coverage) but you will pay your deductable. Your insurance company will then go after the uninsured driver to recoupe thier loss. If he doesn't pay they may go to the state and possibly have his drivers license revoked. It just depends on the state. It is something that will follow him around until he settles up with the insurance company. Again, I'm sure this varies by state. For sure check with your insurance company and tell the truth about what happened. Ask about what will happen to your roommate if they pay your claim. Then you can decide on how to proceed. Best of luck. |
Your insurance will cover it; your roomie should offer to pay the deductable or at least pick up the beer tab for the next year.

I would make the dealer the last choice.........

if your room mate has no insurance the way i see it hear are your choices
1. Room mate pays for all repairs out of pocket 2. If not then you will have to file uninsured/underinsured claim and he needs to pay the deductible from your policy. And it still could go on your record depending on how the adjuster writes the claim up. If he can't afford the 4500 make a deal with him than he pays your premiums each month until he reaches the 4500. Sorry about the accident. It seems like over the last 6 months the 370 has been a magnet for fender benders. I'm going through one now. |
I still don't understand why your roommate was operating a motor vehicle without insurance...

Yeah, my roommate will pay for everything.
Called insurance, told the entire story. Will let them handle now. |
