14th Annual Z-Nationals-370z Best In Class.

5 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, just got back from the 14th annual Z-West Coast Nationals. Was a really great turn out, lots of awesome Z's from every year!!
I was fortunate enough to take home best in class for the 370z stock entry.
I told Paul from Amplified Motorsports, that I wouldn't make a big deal about it, being the humble guy that I am.

Congrats! You definitely have a nice looking Z. It was nice meeting and chating with you and your wife. I wish you could've turned on that car for me to hear the exhaust. Oh well, there's always more meets to look forward to.

SoCal 370Z 04-27-2009 01:14 AM

LOU@AMPLIFIED 04-27-2009 09:24 AM

Congrats Braden. I wanted to go but i had to take care of family stuff.

So how much did you pay the judges..lol:icon17::icon17: jk

I'm a little confused on the judging portion since you and our project z was in the same class.:confused: I must have missed something lol

On the other hand, you won first so that makes me feel better since we worked on your car too:tup::tup:

M.Bonanni 04-27-2009 10:21 AM

Congrats again man! It was nice meeting you and your wife.

yeah, wish you could have showed up, it was a really cool event, nice seeing all the older 240's, 300's, etc. I'm not sure how they judged the cars, I really just went to hang out and have fun looking at the other cars, never expected to get anything out of it, it's cool though, thanks for all the great work, my Nismo exhaust sounds really good now with the Berks installed!! Lot more fun to drive, now that I can actually here the exhaust a bit.

ssqpolo 04-27-2009 10:47 AM

congrats. but i am confused. how does ur stock looking Z beat DDMs and Amplified's Zs? I personally love all the cool things (system and lights) on Amplified's Z, and i love DDMs drop and rims, but i just dont see whats done to urs. either way, beautiful cars. congrats again

The classing was a little wierd. The Mines 370Z, the red Z Car Garage 370Z, and my 370Z were in the 370Z-Modified class. Minicobra's Z, a completely bone stock Z, and Amplified's Z were in the 370Z-Stock class.

The results were...

370Z-Stock
1st - Minicobra1
2nd - Amplified
3rd - Bone stock blue Z in the Nissan Sport booth.

370Z-Modified
1st - Z Car Garage
2nd - DDMotorsports
3rd - Mines

The poor Mine's car was forgotten about. They didn't even judge his car so they just defaulted him to 3rd place.

lol im still scratching my head on the judging. lol

maybe MH can shed some light on how the judged the winners. From what Paul told me, DDM should have been first on the modified class ???

Mike are you coming down for Extreme Auto?

Well, to their credit, the Z Car Garage 370Z did have more mods. We both had suspension mods, we both had HFCs, we both had intakes. I had wheels, he had a cat-back exhaust, StopTech BBK, and painted fangs & rear valance.

Yes I will be at the D1GP/EAF event.

Actually, that's probably why, because it still looks somewhat stock, I think people voting on them just liked the clean lines, probably felt the other cars looked too modified with stickers, etc. That's the only thing I can think of, otherwise I do agree with you. Although, I have done a few things such as, wheel spacers, rotors, Eibach springs, painted front fangs, Nismo exhaust, shift lever, etc. Plus mine was the only one with Persmimon interior and factory Nav, when you see the car in person, it looks different (better) then stock, but still somewhat stock, most people cant figure out what it is. Trust me, next year, it won't be stock looking

M.Bonanni 04-27-2009 11:24 AM

Plus keep in mind it was an older crowd.

kgreen 04-27-2009 12:46 PM

could we get a sound clip with the Berks HFC?

tru_Asiatik 04-27-2009 08:06 PM

That's so weird! I think it's the color combo that won mini his 1st place. Platinum Graphite is an amazing color. First time I saw it in person, I was . Then, when you add persimmon leather to that, it's like the perfect combination.

As soon as DDM mentioned that it was an older crowd, then everything stated to make sense. Older folks will always vote for less aggressive, clean look.

Congrats to all of you guys!

yeah i remember when i went to TORC(toyota owners restorers club) car show
my celica was highly agressive looking with almost evry bolt on
lost to another celica who had everybolt on as well but no kit just stock
so yeah you can guess since its a restorers club most of the judges where older folks
:D but its all good

Thanks for the pics Bryan! Those bugs were huge with giant teeth and a thirst for human blood.

Yeah, no problem  I had to strap it to the top of my car, it was so heavy, I captured a few of those gigantic mutant bugs that were attacking Mike from DD, and they were able to lift it on top using some straps made from a racing harness.

Bryan, thanks for the cool pics, your friends Orange 240 is awesome! All in all it was a lot of fun, cant wait for the next one.

there are a couple here: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...html#post63261
this is with Nismo CB exhaust, but there are some others that are posted in the same thread with just the Berk's

kgreen 04-29-2009 12:32 AM

your combo sounds the best IMO!

mikes 04-29-2009 01:08 AM

It was definitely a good time. It seems like the judging at these things is biased towards "fewer" stickers...

Anyway, this was the baddest "streetable" Z I saw at the show:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...9/73069b3f.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...9/158a9e09.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...9/20f5aeb1.jpg

The build sheet listed Porsche 8-way power leather seats, AC, power windows, power locks and a bunch of other suspension and interior mods.

How that thing didn't win best of show is beyond me...

Gratz to the winners!

It was a great show and was my first time attending. Only bummer was having to park the Z up in the dried out field. Had I known I would have registered just to get good parking next to you guys. All good though, I was able to meet Paul from Amplified and a bunch of others on the classic side.

Anyone see the 240z paint job with the little stick figures in naughty "positions" painted onto hidden locations on the car? good stuff.

Here's a pic of the bone stock 370z next to the Nissan Sport booth...
