A-Pillars blacked out?
A thought came to me this morning.... Has someone wrapped/painted their A-pillars in gloss black? I know folks have wrapped/painted their roof in gloss black (esp on pearl white Z, looks hot), but has anyone done their A-pillars instead, and maybe left their roof stock color? It would give the look of a "wraparound" windshield, ala GTR.
Can someone do a good photoshop (I suck) of this on the Z? Doesn't matter the color of the Z... white preferrable, but don't have to be... What do you guys think? would it look good? or ghetto? |
if anything, the roof....not A-pillar (ghetto for sure)
|
Only if the hole top half of the car was done. That would be hood, roof, and hatch. Tha's the only way it would work IMO.

theres was a thread on this a while back. someone did a photoshop. i liked it, however majority voted against. "GTR Biter" was the outcome...
|
^ Lol... GTR Biter.... I like that name. Yeah I was just wondering that because someone mentioned that to me at the car meet Saturday... at first I was like :icon14: but then I just got curious...
|
I dont think it will be ghetto... so many opinions in this world, who cares what other people think, if you like it do it up! ... if i knew how to photoshop I would do it for you but im clueless beyond picture editing on PS....
in for the chop! |
|
^ Thanks Econ.... this is the better pic I saw on that thread
http://www.box.net/shared/static/h2povnakc0.JPG I dunno... I don't like it. I think I am thrown off by dark rims and door handles (not a fan of either of those), plus the red color I can't picture my own white car.... I might have to try this photoshop myself.... hmmmmmmmmmm |
ok ok here is my crude attempt at the editing. It looks a little better now I think... remember I suck at photo shopping... sorry. Again, please don't flame because I am not planning to do this to my car... was just curious ;)

meh not worth it imo. Doesn't add much
|
^ I agree.... something about it doesn't look right. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the fenderline/opening between the door and front fender doesn't line up with the a-pillar. Also, the a-pillar extends into the hood territory... making it look choppy if blacked out.
So yeah, thumbs down for me. |
No me Gusta

:eekdance:
That looks awkward |
Here is a photoshop I did with gloss black on Zero's Z:

Looks great except that it shouldn't go that far down towards the hood and you need to tint the windows to get the wraparound look.
|
Not a fan. Although it might look sick on a black car.
In my opinion, adding black to a white car starts you on a slippery slope. One black accent can look out of place and then you find yourself adding more to keep a balanced look. Next thing you know, you're blacking out everything. This is fine if that's the look you're going for, but just know that once you start.... I'm having this dilemma with my headlights. I really want to do the housings black, but I'm afraid they'll look out of place with nothing else on the car black. |
I thought there was a red Z floating around that had Venaci really big on the side that had this done in vinyl.

But yeah, the key is tasteful accents.... not going ape$h*t on it. As for your headlights, I like em stock... althought every now and then I find myself looking at the white painted headlight interiors.... looks decent in some cases. |
doest buillitts car have blacked out a pillars

it looks okay from the side but how the a-pillar joins at the hood just looks out of place.
|
pointless imo

I agree with what kenchan said as well. That little snippet at the bottom is out of place. With a black roof and A-pillars it would look good i think. Sort of like the new Scion tC |
Only if the window's were totally blacked out.

Eh... I like the color.
It reminds me of the S2000... Normally from Honda they are painted but then they cover it with a black film. http://www.thetorquereport.com/honda_s2000_cr_new.jpg http://www.thetorquereport.com/hondas2000types.jpg |
