Dealer transmission question

Hi I'm currently planning to purchase a 370z real soon and I have a question. I did some research on where a white 370z with sport package can be found and saw it's a mt. If i purchased the vehicle at the dealer would I be able to change the transmission to AT? thanks guys

For a price anything can be done... But I would just wait to find one that's setup with what you want.

Don't be in a hurry! Sooner or later the right 7AT will be available. I wouldn't advise paying for such a conversion unless money is no object.

hmmmm sometimes it amazes me how ppl ask such question... can it be changed to MT or AT?

well it'll be my first time at the dealers purchasing my OWN car. As of now it's a MT and I wanted to change it into a AT, since I have no experience driving a MT vehicle yet + the traffic in NY kinda sickens me if i had to shift every couple of seconds considering how often I drive. Also, would I have to purchase car insurance on the spot before driving the car off?

Just wait until an AT comes along.

just learn MT... (?) :D

I never really thought of Mrs. Kobe Bryant as a Nissan driver

If you don't want to learn manual, I would simply look for another one in automatic. Asking for a transmission conversion would be ridiculously expensive!

Shift every second? You've been watching F&F way too many times. I DD my Z and having a manual isn't all that bad in traffic. It just takes some getting use to. If your afraid to learn to drive stick, thats a whole different story.

In any case, don't buy it unless its what you really want. There's a lot more to it than a simple transmission swap. No dealer would be crazy enough to do that for you unless they like loosing money.

...and yes, you need car insurance before you leave the lot in NY state. I would also warn you that insurance for this car in NY isn't cheap, even with a clean record.

yeah just look around and find one you want even if its in another state, they can do dealer transfers/trades so make them find what you want its your money

I would think a swap would cost over half the car's worth. There is a lot more to the difference than just the transmission - the rear end is different, the ECU (BCM?) is different or programmed different, the differential fits different, there is no SRM switch or electronics, the wiring harnesses, etc.

Just wait (as others said). There tends to be way more AT than MT, so it's just a matter of time.

White and black are the two most common Z colors out there. Your dealer should be able to locate one easily for you.
