Whoa talking about jail time for HFC's?! Haha in Alberta you could pass a cop hitting nitrous boost, with straight pipes and still just get a speeding ticket. Maybe even just a warning. If smog laws in the US have really come to that, well maybe a prius or camry hybrid is in order! :ugh2: Of course in Canada you do have to do backflips, pay a small fortune and wait 6 months just to get a gun... I have a feeling that's not so in Texas ;)

Police/CHP/Sheriffs in CA can legally impound ANY car they find that has emissions modifications without a C.A.R.B. certification. This includes superchargers, turbos, HFC's, etc. If they want to be difficult about it -- they can if you run non-approved stuff that impacts emissions.

Is MD one of them? Not that it makes a difference to me, I will probably still get HFCs.

more accurately, in the United States, it is a violation of federal law to remove or damage the factory emission system (or any part thereof).

I have never heard of any one ever getting arrested for running HFC.

Google "got arrested for high flow cats". Search for 10+ pages and you won't find a single post or thread about someone getting arrested for it. That should be your reassurance right there. If someone ever got arrested for it, then I guarantee you they would've posted it on a forum or something somewhere.
