COME ON!

I skimmed through your thread and it's unfortunate you have had such a bad experience. Seems that too many of these wheel companies are taking orders that they can not deliver on in the agreed upon time frame. I don't blame you for being upset. Lou has a good reputation. Hopefully he will take care of you with this situation. Good luck and definitely post some pictures when you get the wheels mounted.

yah, i mean even when a novice like me ships personal stuff i get a receipt from the UPS store which has the tracking# right there.

if they used a computer to make the labels like my logistics team does at work we all know tracking numbers are stored in the pc's logs...

I will honestly probably never get my wheels and I will probably be talking with my bank about how to get my 3400 back. Seriously I understand things don't always happen as planned, but everytime I call it is something new or different holding things up. It is just a tracking #, you can type it into an email, or a text, or give it 2 me verbally over the phone, you can send it via ******* carrier pidgeon for all I care.

kenchan 07-13-2011 02:12 PM

yah socal to des moines is what, 4days? if they shipped monday that means you should have them by tomorrow. i'd dispute the funds with your institution 7pm your time. hope it doesnt come down to that though!

nismodreamr 07-13-2011 02:19 PM

+1 on the importance of communication. It only takes a few seconds and would put the OP's mind at ease, negating the "need" to call every day (multiple times). I get it, I really do. When I lay down $, I want to know where my money went to. I get obsessive about it as well. Perhaps not to the point of calling/emailing multiple times per day, but I definitely get anxious, especially if I'm told one thing and experience another.

I suppose the moral of all this would be the following:
1) Set the customer's expectations early. If the shipment is going to take three months..tell the customer it'll be four. That way you'll end up the Hero when it comes in early, yet not the tyrant when the delivery falls behind!
2) Communicate with your customers on a routine schedule, just to let them know how things are coming along. You may not have any news, but sometimes no news is better than not hearing anything at all.

I'm just sayin'!

PS. I've learned the value of item number 1 over the years with my wife and my anticipated departure from work! I used to tell her what I thought she wanted to hear "I'll only be another five minutes" and then had to hear the dissapointement when I did not come through. Now I just tell her "I'm not sure...maybe an hour?". And all is good when I show up in half the time! What can I say, I'm just keeping it real..and keeping the "customer" satisfied!

I think there are a ton of good points made in this entire thread, being in sales myself, setting and managing expectations via clear and concise communications is paramount and works both ways, especially as a customer if you are spending a good amount of your hard earned money.

A quick reply to any of your messages updating you on the status would have eased your mind and cleared any doubts of "now I have your money, you will get it when you get it" or "I bet I have been suckered."

Each vendor does things differently, it's just how some do business, it won't change a thing whether they gain or lose a customer. Buyers have different expectations as well. I am sure some forum members will read this thread and think nothing of it and some will say...hmmmm. Whether they choose to purchase or not is up to them. After reading it myself, my expectations have been set, I know not to expect a ton of response and I need to be very patient if I were to purchase. Patience is not one of my strongest attributes...

I get it, I see where you are coming from and have been in that position before, it sucks! I waited 10 weeks for wheels, when they arrived, they were the wrong wheels! Talk about pissed, in the end; I got what I wanted, but the overall negative buying experience took away from the enjoyment of getting the product.

I hope things work out for you in the end.

V.

nismodreamr 07-13-2011 03:16 PM

@vapiano thanks for the input, I really agree with the poor experience and misleading information taking away from me enjoying the actual product, I have almost lost the desire for my wheels at this point because I am so stressed, I am still young and don't make a lot of money, so 3400 was a big mod for me! I would appreciate it if a vendor would treat it as if it mattered.

yah, before you mount tires i'd make sure everything is correct including size, offset, PCD, and center bore diameter.

I know how to check on size and offset, but forgive me here. what is PCD? and how do I check the center bore diameter? I am assuming center bore diameter can be checked with a ruler/tape measure, just measure it from one side to the other?

SP00LN 07-14-2011 02:50 PM

Wow, glad to hear they finally shipped man! CRAZY lol

Make sure to take some pics!

pitch circle diameter for the lug holes. it's 5x114.3 for our cars. easiest way is if you have a spacer just line it up to the studs or see if it fits on your car.

center bore is diameter 66mm on our cars. wheels tend to give 0.1 for clearance or 66.1mm. you can take a caliper or ruler to measure this diameter.

happytheman 07-16-2011 04:01 PM

Oh wow! Happy is happy to hear that you finally have a tracking #!

It's the 18th. Did they arrive?

LOU@AMPLIFIED 07-21-2011 06:22 PM

I guess its time for me to Chime in.

VOLK TE37SL were back ordered for the front fitment for about 3-4 months. He called me to ask if i can get it sooner. I had ordered a set for my G37 which is the same front fitment 2 months prior. I was nice enough to give him my set to even though I've been waiting myself and since i thought i would finish my car sooner (GREDDY TT KIT) for the photoshoot, i went ahead and purchased another set of G2'S that was in stock.

I did apologize to him regarding the lack of communication that 1 week we were super busy and short handed. After that week, i was able to drop emails and talked to him. He did state that he understands. Now as for the TRACKING NUMBERS, UPS usually emails my customers once we ship. For what ever reason there must have been a glitch but i got my emails from UPS.

Aside from the container arriving later than what was expected and the fact that he mentioned to me over the phone " its ok, i know your busy, take your time", Once we got the wheels delivered to our shop, i shipped them out as soon as possible. According to my UPS acct, the freight was delivered on the 18th of this month.

Overall, he ordered them in May and got them in mid July. It was still faster than the 3-4 months that he would have waited and I'm sure i had some customers here that waited 5 months for volk wheels unless they purchase in stock sizes.

Just wanted everyone to know my side of the story.

No wonder you put on G2's again, I was thinking.. didn't he go through these wheels already?! hahaha.

It's probably slight miscommunication, most people do wait 3-4 months on Volks. IMHO if you don't want to wait, buy wheels that are in stock (I'm one of those people who hate waiting).

Yes, basically if my customer wants what i have in stock, they come first, not me:tup:

It wasn't a matter of disagreeing with anything you were saying or what we agreed upon, it was a matter of you telling me the first week of June and then the wheels getting here the second week in July, and the lack of communication in between. I know you are busy but if I buy a set of wheels like that from someone I expect a call back maybe once a week or so after we pass the deadline just to know where we are at, even if it hasn't progressed at least I have the peace of mind knowing that you are keeping tabs on everything. Either way it doesn't matter at this point, the wheels are here and are on the car, everything turned out great, I apologize if this caused any sort of issue for you Lou, I just was expecting updates once a week or so after we passed the first week in june and then not getting phone calls back when I called two or three days in a row threw me off.

nismodreamr 07-21-2011 11:13 PM

just to clarify, I am not unhappy with any product or item purchased from Lou and would probably buy from him again, I just expected more communication after awhile is all. I appreciate what he did for me in regards to letting me buy the wheels he had already ordered for his car, if anyone researches it I started a thread praising Lou for this right after that happened the first few days in may.
