There is nothing wrong with the question but Z guys will be more partial to the 370Z. I'm sure if the same question was asked on a G37 forum then the responses would most likely be in favor of the G. ;)

I've checked out both but the G didn't nothing for me, it's not what I'm looking for in a car. Although I haven't actually bought my 370Z yet it will most likely be my next purchase. Hopefully by next year.

Flushnismo 06-23-2011 11:52 AM

They only reason I would choose a G over a Z is for the paint. I hate the Paint on the 370z..it's so difficult, but paint is an important thing to me...My car is always clean...always

wanfeilwong 06-23-2011 12:05 PM

I owned a g35 and was in love with its chiseled defined look. Sadly education>vehicle and had to sell.

... then the g37 came out and shattered my dreams. It became rounder and puffy like a marshmallow. It lost it's masculinity to a bubble butt rear end with its contrasting small chrome duckbill.

On the other hand, the 370z is a beastly mean catfish. With a sleek body and fitting back end. I don't own a 370 yet, but have test driven it and will be in the market for one in a little while.

Horseface 06-23-2011 12:37 PM

Because it's ugly with a flat @ss and a common as heck sight here in LA.

Besides, for 'luxury' cars, I always go with the Germans.

G37 is too sedated, quiet and comfortable for my tastes. Plus it looks like crap compared to the 370Z in my opinion.

SeattleLion 06-23-2011 01:55 PM

I rented a G37 while my Z was getting its oil cooler. The G37 has a much more refined ride and is very quiet. However, it isn't as responive as the Z and the extra weight makes it significantly slower off the line. I felt that I lost "road feel" in the G and the steering didn't seem as responsive.

Other than the obvious appearance and passenger capacity, the biggest difference to me is the more disconnected feeling with the road.

red6spd 06-23-2011 02:00 PM

G was about 10K more then what I payed for my car. And like others said the Z is much better looking, with that said I really wanted a G37 Sedan 6spd but once again I was looking at $40K+ VS the 34 I payed for my Z.

amberjack 06-23-2011 02:07 PM

The Z is just so cute and seats are so fuzzy and cuddly. It feels like the interior wraps around you like a nice cozy blanket.

The G37 is ok too.. but it's not as warm and fuzzy :/

svmtbman 06-24-2011 07:55 AM

I looked at a G37 coupe when shopping for cars and chose the 370X for the following reasons:

1. I was coming from a 2 seat sports car and thought I might want a back seat but after seeing how useless the back seat was in the G I figured I would never ask someone to try to sit back there.
2. Weight! The G is damn heavy!
3. I actually preferred the interior design of the Z over the G.
4. Styling, I kept noticing G coupes on the road and it would always take way to long to determine if it was an Altima coupe or an Infinity.
5. The closest Infinity dealer is an hour and a half away from me and Nissan is 15 minutes away.

So I take it most guys answering this thread is in their 20s or early 30s ???

bacalhau16 06-24-2011 11:53 AM

Im 27 and have a Z, good call.

I actually test drove a g37s and probably wouldve bought it as well. It was definitely as fast as the 350z I had at the time and handled great. I loved the interior and it had navigation, so that was a plus. It also had a major scratch/gouge(sp?) in the door which I did not like and the dealer wanted nothing to do with fixing it, so I passed. Found a leftover 370z and got a good deal.

Previous to this, I did like that Z's were lighter and felt more responsive to G's. Its not to say that I wont own a G in the future though.

I'm 21. Honestly, if they were the same price, I might have ended up with the G37 coupe since it's more practical as a DD.

They are practically the same price now.

I was looking at cars back in January, for used 09 370Z or 09 G37 coupe both 7AT. The G37's were around like $32k for one in good condition and I got my Z for $26k. That was a significant difference for me and one of the reasons my parents even let me get the Z over the G. :icon17:

HAHA I turn 45 in August ..and Buick had some mean cars ...lol

UNKNOWN_370 06-24-2011 01:03 PM

I went from a G to a Z. I have multiple cars so room isn't an issue for me. I don't need a bunch of tech in my car. My G had all this tech and it was going to waste because I didn't use it. The sport package on the Z is way more serious, wheel-wise. Cornering is what really turned me on to the Z. Lane change performance is near identical acceleration is similar. The only things the G had over the Z is.
1. It was more stable over 130mph
2. The exhaust had more of a true sports car sound than the Z. The. Z sounds whimpy by comparison.

Anyone who says the G isn't a real sports car hasn't driven one to the limit. Its a sick handling car. Especially for its size weight and convenience. But the Z still trumps it in handling. You just can't beat the short wheelbase for cornering performance. Either car is a good choice. I just prefer the Z, all factors considered.

cruzmisl 06-24-2011 01:22 PM

I love the tech stuff in the G. I wanted something sporty enough while being comfortable. I don't think the fiance would have liked sitting in the Z.

I'm 27 and very happy with it. I really like the Z, but the G was a better fit for what I was looking for.

I bought my Z myself with my own money. Just had to get the OK from parents since loan would be on their name.

snaggeltooth 06-24-2011 01:35 PM

I may make a new thread and ask if your Z is your only car .. think its a good idea ???

bijou 06-24-2011 01:45 PM

Hello guys,

I just switched to a G37 from a 370Z for a number of reasons that have already been stated. The G37 has everything I wanted for a man getting close to 50 years old. It has a more comfortable and quiet ride and the sound system is truly amazing. Other features that the G37 posseses is the sun roof which can make a drive just gloroius during those 70 or 80 Degree days. The other issue for me which caused me to switch is when you have anything in your back of the Z thats heat sensitive. The hatchback acts like a magnifying glass and can ruin equipment because of the high temps. These are some of the reasons which caused me to switch. Now, what I miss is the quickness and handling of the Z. That car was so fast and the looks from others will also be missed. I had people coming up to me and saying nice car or just plain checking it out. Whatever you choose make sure to get what you want. You can't go wrong with either car. Happy driving!!!

I'm 41, wish I was 31, but feel like I'm 51.

gr8-wrx 06-24-2011 02:27 PM

I'll be 41 later this year. The ZR is our 3rd car out of a 2 driver household and driven on weekends primarily. Doesn't make sense to get something practical like the G37 for us!

Good answer .. I notice you have the 7AT.. How does that work for you in your Z???

So from this we can understand the Z is better because...

1. You feel the ride (better connected with the road)
2. Window tint anyone... :ugh2:
3. Handles better
4. Better Acceleration
5. More admiration than a G

Hmm... good reasons to stay Z.

All in all though, you ask here, most people will say Z. You ask the same question on a G forum, and you're going to get more people saying G. This is why the question hasn't really ever been spoken out loud is the fact your general response is going to be a given...

Either way the best possible outcome of your decision is it's not a Honda.

Dwight Frye 06-24-2011 06:16 PM

I had an '04 G35 which I liked and considered buying another before I bought my 370Z. What put me off was a big price increase on the G37 and the styling got ugly. The earlier G35's were instant classics. I do miss the trunk, the very occasional use rear seats, the additional cabin storage space and sunroof of the G and would probably buy another one if they fire their stylists and make the car look classy again. The lower cabin noise of the G also made long cruises more enjoyable but you can't really compare the 2 cars.

frost 06-24-2011 06:48 PM

Why tomato soup, why not cream of broccoli? These comparison threads are always fuckin retarded.

kidkotic2001 06-24-2011 06:55 PM

G is not a sports car, if I wanted something that looked European I would have gotten a European car.

Z is a much nicer car and handle ling is better.

7AT is great! I had manual transmissions in my cars for the last 20 years (WRX, Integra, etc). I don't feel like I'm missing anything at all. I test drove the MT Z before buying the 7AT.
