I need owners opinions! HELP!

Hey guys,
Long time reader here and posting for the first time. The time has come to buy my first car and I have it narrowed to a 370 or a Challenger R/T. Obvioulsy both are very nice cars in their own way and I really like both of them for different reasons.

My question to you guys is besides the obvious enjoyment of the Z, do you guys ever wish you went with something a bit more practical? I can see where the Z would be a fantastic and ideal weekend fun car, but on a more day to day basis what are your opinions? Sorry if this has been discussed before and I look forward to your guys insight!

Thanks!:tiphat:

It's practical enough if you don't have kids.

NOT true, I have kids!

What you got to do is get you a family car and that is the end of the story. ;)

I too longed for a Challenger. I went with the Z because I know the quality is way better with Nissan vs. Dodge. This coming from a guy who had a '69 Charger for ten years. Yes, I love me some MOPAR. I don't regret it. I do think the Challenger is hot but it's a polished turd....plus you really should have a mullet if you own one....I think it's the law.

It's a fun car for me. If it's going to be your only car you need to ask yourself how often you will want to or need to have more than one passenger or you will need to haul things that wouldn't fit in the Z. Once you answer those questions the answer to what car should be easy. Good luck.

Fun cannot be beaten by anything else period.

If you're asking, may be you know the answer already. I've driven two seat sports cars for 20 years, I knew what I was getting.

Those two cars are drastically different.

The Z can easily be a DD and you can fit more than you would think in the Z but never more than 1 passenger...

Unless you have have a retarded drunk friend who stays at the bar with you and a buddy not knowing you just got a two seater letting his ride leave and needs a ride home. In that case you can fit three if he wants to ride in the hatch .... It's been done! On the 4th day I had my car. Was hilarious.

Get the Z.

The Z is the way to go if, like others have stated, you don't transport large things. I golf daily and I find that to be a hasel for long trips. I can fit the clubs in fine in the back with removing woods but the pull cart is another thing. I have to lay a towel down in the front seat and put it there and hold it with one hand when going around corners. Little things like that are no fun but MAN I LOVE THIS CAR! I smile everytime I walk out to her.....it is such a beautiful car!!!

I love my dakota! Toss my hunting or fishing stuff in the back, golf clubs and your good to go. I will have my truck still, so that will be for hunting, fishing obviously but I have read you can have your clubs in the z, so that is good as I do hit the links quite often.

I don't have kids, I'm 22 and figure now is about the only time that a car like the z would be alright before I get all the responsibilities and have to have certain cars to suit needs. I usually don't haul more than either my gf or one person around anyway, so passenger space is not that big of a priority. I was just asking in terms of general day to day stuff, not to see if I was able to compromise to be able to swing it. Just wanted some opinions from people that own them.

my dad had an srt8 challenger and while fast in the straights its a bear to control in the curves at speed. its literally like trying to jockey a blue whale down the road in traffic. the Z on the other hand is quick(not balls to the wall fast) enough to get away from traffic and nimble as a rabbit. get the Z. you will not be disappointed.

as for practicality, i had a charger. traded it for the Z because i didn't like playing taxi everywhere i went. huge drawback of having a nice/big car.

That is true, if you only have two seats you can't play taxi! I have driven both th rt and srt and they are really nice rides. They are fast and powerful, but the handling is a bit boaty. One thing though is that they would be a good commuter car for sure. They are comfortable.

If u only have one car it might get alittle frustrating at times. I recommend you get a beater hatch or something down the road
:)

:iagree:
No longer have my winter car and I miss it..hate taking the Z out in nasty rain etc;
Having that backup option for winter and other times helps.

TheGreatOne 06-21-2011 07:41 AM

I'm a selfish guy at times so I'm good with the 2 seater but I have the wifes 3 series too so that helps incase i did need more space.

I pretty much drive my Z everyday...I can haul my Muay Thai gear, thats pretty much all I care about...it gets you out of offering people to move or car pool :)

I'm actually about to have my 1st kid in about 5 months....the wife did say I had better get the car before a kid, otherwise its not practical...so 4 months ago I jumped on it lol, would have been a hard sell later on

Like I said, I still have my truck to use on nasty days or when I need to maybe carry more things.

For the most part, I would just need to stick my golf stuff in something (hypothetically the Z). Other than that, I dont really haul much around in terms of people or cargo.
