Seems like it would be easy to just order a replacement, doesn't it? They matched my locks to their master key set, but apparently ordering the replacement is impossible.

Hmmm.....
Once the Dealer determined which key you needed by using the Master Key Set, all they have to do is call McGard and order a replacement key for you.

That would make sense, but there were no markings whatsoever on the individual lock keys in the master set, no way to know what to order. The guy actually showed me the key that fit my set...I looked it over carefully and I had to agree that there were no numbers, letters, or anything that set that key apart from any of the other 7 in the kit.

they should be the same McGard ones that we use on the Infiniti models.... never seen it crack yet -- must've been a crappy tool that vibrated the crap out of them and causing them to crack.

i still do it all by hand w/o power tools taking off lugs.... something about the safety of it

No it's the locks. They were using the 350 locks which were not the correct part. The new Infiniti ones are the same as the new ones for the 370Z with the washer and all. 370Z has longer studs than 350Z.

Wheel Locks more trouble then their worth.

Pretty much depends where you live. If you live around New York and park in your driveway then yes you need them unless you want to come out in the morning to see your car on blocks. Up in New England I don't worry about it, criminals up here are far too lazy to go to all that trouble.

Oh... and one more thing.

After they finished removing the wheel lock and mounted the spare, an associate said "your 350Z is ready." I'm about to leave when I notice those idiots didn't at least put a regular lug to replace the wheel locks:shakes head::shakes head: Basically, I had two wheel locks on the front wheels that has the potential to shatter killing small animals and two rear wheels held on with 4 lugs. Nothing catastrophic, but still...common sense tells me the correct number is 5.

It took all of ten minutes to put on a new "correct" set of wheel locks all around.

They had to order the tire, so I hope I have better luck this Saturday when they install in. I really hope my wheel isn't FUBR from them removing the lock.

that sucks man, hope everything works out
