So tell me, do your Zs seats feel cheap and flimsy? Do they thud when you sit in them?

TheGreatOne 06-17-2011 05:06 PM

lol this thread

I will say one thing about the seats, I know when I push my head back on the head rest, I can feel the stems from the head rest pointing into my back...I always felt that was kinda cheap

I say its weight savings...so F it :)

I hope you are being sarcastic about that as that is the lumbar support built in for rear-end collisions.. lol :ughdance:

This is a whiplash prevention mechanism.

Hey that's like how my lock beep was disabled when I got the car and spent about 6 months without it turned on until I spotted a thread on here about it...I always chalked that up to weight savings.

In all seriousness aren't the headrests designed to help mitigate whiplash in rear end collisions?

FL 4Motion 06-17-2011 10:37 PM

I think the seats are alright. they're not the greatest ever, but by no means are they horrible either.

It was a joke man. If you would have spent some time looking around on here before hopping on bashing a community that is here because they all own the same thing you are bashing, you probably would have gotten the joke.

I found the seats were more comfortable on my thighs if I raised up the rear of the bottom seat cushion as high as it would go so I was sitting on more of a flat surface.....instead of having the back of the bottom seat cushion lower than my thighs. This made a rather large difference in comfort for me, as the side bolsters don't bother me quite as much now...

OldGuy 06-18-2011 03:08 PM

My base seats are a bit too narrow and a bit too firm (or insufficiently padded). I don't think it's a matter of price though, as my wife's Prius seats are much wider and infinitely better padded and more comfortable. But I have no real problem with them. Got them reupholstered with beautiful red and black Katzkin perforated leather.

I didn't want to bring this up considering my other post but anyway, yes the seat is narrow, only mid thigh, everywhere else i thought it was ok. I don't understand this, surely car manufacturers know that Humans are gettting taller/bigger?? Oh and before the Zed guys attack me, i have the same observation about my MX5.

My DD is a G Sedan and sports seats are more comfy there, I found base Z seats to be nice but lack the recline adjustments and I felt a bit uncomfortable in thighs area after some long drive. Got those redone in leather with some extra padding seems to be ok now.

nuTinmuch 06-19-2011 03:27 AM

The seats are too wide. I wish they were narrower.

Yeah, You should try the back seat of the Z!

I like the Z's seats. Or at least the ones at the dealership.

I used to love my RSX's seats, but now they aren't so much comfortable as annoying during spirited driving. I would liken them to a failed compromise between sporty and luxury.

The Z's seem better. All around.

Different seats for different market segments. Obviously, in a two seat sports coupe/convertible, I think it would be an overwhelmingly poor response if they had made big, flat SUV style seats. People are absolutely getting bigger, unfortunately wider being the faster growing dimension, but this is why they invented the test drive, if your fat *** doesn't fit don't buy. I'm a pretty big dude and have no problems whatsoever fitting in my car.

I just did a 2600 mile road trip with my lady (Gville to Philly, over to Columbus then back home) and my seats treated me really well. I am 5-10 150lbs and wasnt bothered at all til I hit hour 12+. We made a really similar trip in April in a rented quite loaded Enclave and I was more uncomfortable in those flat a$$ seats than the Z. Base+ sport. Just sayin...

kdo2milger 06-19-2011 11:42 AM

maybe you should go back to audi or lexus...

or loose some weight...

The level of douchbaggery in here is astonishing.

I like my seat a lot, but i'm not coming from an Audi or Lexus.. didn't you sit in the seats before you bought the car to know that you didn't like them?

Obviously a more expensive car is going to come with "top of the line" of course that all depends on the car. I can tell you I have scoliosis so ANY seat to me becomes uncomfortable after a while. The recaro's in my Evo X were very comfortable, but they were seriously cheap with staples that came out and all that.

Anyway... I would go aftermarket, or just find a seat you like, buy a set and have a custom shop install them, but you won't have the protection of the airbag... which would keep me from getting anything else.

specZ 06-19-2011 11:29 PM

This is a great thread! OP, You could atleast start off with the minimum requirements of the thought process (who, what, when, why, how) as supposed to making a statement about your seats and expecting the same response from others? I love how this thread has it all thus far from douchebaggery to aryan seats( not the rocket ones ;) ) tp diet suggestions. Oh yea, the nismo seats are a bit narrow but no sense on harping about it to people who cant do anything about it. BTW - IBTL

Hambone1 06-19-2011 11:36 PM

I came from an Audi and prefer the Z seats...

I came from 2 Evo's and a Mazdaspeed 3. I liked the MS3 seats, but they were kind of bouncy in the headrests which I didn't like, but the seat itself was comfortable. I'm certainly not uncomfortable in my Z seats... I would say from 1-10 they would be 7 or 8.

Stop making statements like that or try to stir the pot here :stirthepot:. And stop making useless threads like this. What's next? you like the Lexus dashboard material better than the Z?

Nissan is made to compete with Honda and Toyotas. If you want to compare Lexus or Audi seats , I suggest you look at Infiniti Seats.
