Yet another thread to prove the Z "trunk" is much more spacious than it seems at first

This needs to be a DIY or How TO

Has anyone tried mounting their bike to the back of the car with a bike carrier?

I would not try this with the Nissan paint being so horrible. I have 2 scratches near my trunk and I'm extremely careful when I put stuff in and out.

EXACTLY. In fact, I cringed when I saw the OP's first pic... of the bike resting on the trunk. Eeek. Anything that touches the paint has a potential to scratch/swirl/mar, etc..... more so a bike seat. But to each his own, I'm a swirl hater, so all my cars are polished to perfection.

On topic, OP, nice job fitting it in there though.... however, I don't see a pic with the trunk hatch actually CLOSED!!! :stirthepot:

Easier!

Only works on the non-NISMOs, of course. :icon17:

Oh cool...serves as a wheelie bar too :)

That's actually my old Z in that pic. I helped the Boofsquire people with the test fitment. It's a pretty nifty system if you want the ability to haul a bicyle, skis, small kayak, etc.

Take wheels and seat post off. Pad and wrap carefully. Space really isn't much of an issue when you set it in once or twice but if there's anyone with a bike that actually needs a DIY I can take more pics. 700C, 56cm frame.

I can't quite read the brand of the carrier. Who makes it?

m4a1mustang 06-16-2011 12:52 PM

The company is called Boofsquire. They are a little pricey but well made and really the only option for the Z.

I don't think 200 bucks is that terrible for a bike rack that will not screw your car up.
