Sucks for you guys that actually LIVE there that you have to "smog" your car every year for $40

Yeah, but it's almost worth it considering how easy it is to pass. No CEL? Here's your sticker.

My guy in Houston was as shady as it got... No CEL, plugged in your car, no rolling road even, lol. He used his gas cap and stuff to test the other crap, and here's your sticker

That's not shady. That's just the standard test here. :rofl2: Shady is the vato that just sells you a sticker since proof of insurance is technically required to get a legit sticker.

:bowrofl:
It's still shadier than a LOT of places, most at least have a rolling road, and while the "smog" places are supposed to check for tint and other "safety" things... I'd hazard a guess and say 75+% don't check any of those.

coolvans1988 10-10-2013 01:04 PM

$297 = 2013 Z
$280 = 2013 Altima

I have spent my entire driving life in TX, and I've never seen a rolling road for inspections. :rofl2:

I've failed one time, and it was the visual check when the guy looked under my STi and saw no cats whatsoever and an external wastegate dumped to atmosphere. That was also the only time I've ever had a visual check.

They sweat you for that gas cap too at some of these places, had to get one last month for the Z before he would pass me for inspection.

In Pa. $18.00 for a motorcycle. $36.00 for a car. Truck is based on weight, so my 3/4 ton 8,8800lbs Power Wagon is $153.00. Camper is $12.00. Motorhome, I don't know yet. Picking it up tomorrow.

So 2 motorcycles, 3 cars, 1 truck, 1 camper = $309 per year + motorhome? :shakes head:

chops 10-10-2013 04:31 PM

You won't believe this. I paid $370.00

Framing this.

roy'sz 10-10-2013 09:47 PM

because you are closer to the capitol that is why it is more expensive. I paid 306 for mine plus I have personal plates. Mabye it has to do with age as well?

Not to be confused with LA = Louisiana...

Registration here for a Personalized Plate= $75 for two years.

Once a year property tax - I pay less than a Grand on my house.

Insurance on my Z is less than $600 every six months... (but have multi-line, multi-car, and Accident Free discount...)

What can I say, I Love the South....

No and no. California bases it on the year built and assumed value. That's why you see your cost go down every year. Age would be considered discrimination since the dmv is a government agency.

WA, $110, Special and custom plates though.

TreeSemdyZee 10-11-2013 05:44 AM

Paid 208 this year. They actually use profits from the lottery to cut our excise tax in half or I'd have paid an extra 195.

OldGuy 10-11-2013 08:57 AM

Don't understand any of this. In PA, annual registration is $36.00. First year is maybe $100.00 one shot fee if you need a new license plate. If you use the one from your old car, then only $36.00/year. Some of those numbers in other states are outrageous.

Some states base your registration on the car, meaning a performance car with lower MPG has a higher tax. This is similar to Europe, a V6 and up can be a hefty fee to operate per year.

jburke26 10-11-2013 12:26 PM

I got jacked.... $350 for the Z in Alabama but I did have a College plate which added $50.

kidkotic2001 10-11-2013 02:01 PM

$800, $500, WTF are you guys talking about I paid 80 bucks for my sticker. I would be walking, using my bicycle, and taking the bus if I had to pay that much on registration. Either that or I would be running expired tags. Probably expired tags. LOL

come on now, you can do better, haboob! :icon17:

What difference does it make ? Someone paying more or less than someone else in a different state isn't going to change anything.

Drex 10-11-2013 07:39 PM

$135 in maryland

TreeSemdyZee 10-11-2013 09:44 PM

States handle the whole licensing/registration/taxes differently. In Indiana, the actual plates registration is 20 something dollars added to an excise tax, which is paid at the same time as the plate purchase. Across the Ohio Ocean in Kentucky, they pay a fee for their plates and a property tax on their cars at a different time.
It's nearly impossible to compare actual dollars and cents, but we're all basically stating "This is how much I had to pay to drive my car."

Joepro 10-11-2013 10:11 PM

In PA as stated above the State reg is 36 bucks, plate is one time, annual inspection runs from 20-30 bucks and it just depends which emission test you get, I hear philly is expensive, regular emissions runs 30-40 bucks...or Indiana county FTW= no emissions, and working at a car dealer=free inspection=winning, cant believe the fees in some of these states! BTW I hate living here, but hell if Im moving to some of those states...

One thing we don't have, guns... We do... But we get California taxed on the selection, lol

Personalized plates get you here in Cali. It is the price of admission.

I agree. I think the op wanted to see the differences and he got it.

Good luck when you move out of PA. It is not as nice compared to some other states so I don't blame you. Yes I've been to PA. Amish country to be exact and it was just ok. Close to Penn State. Too cold for me plus nothing to do.
