puddle of oil crappy dealer service!
I had my oil changed at the dealer last week and I brought my own oil. On Saturday morning I wake up to a huge puddle of oil under my car. I check the oil and it's 2 quarts low.
The dealer said the copper crush washer was not fastened properly and changed my oil for free. Who knows how much oil I lost during those days in between the two services? I’m very Pissed off!!!! |
Ask for compensation. Tell them the reason you go to dealership is to avoid rookey mistakes. See what they offer.

How do you not fasten a crush washer properly? It's either on, or off. I think what they really mean is that the tech didn't tighten the drain plug bolt properly. Or that there was no crush washer installed at all. Either way it's bad.

You don't have to write "crappy". Just say "dealer". The crappy is just assumed anyway.....

Unfortunately, I have had terrible experiences with my local Nissan dealership also. It is so sad because my good friend has a Gen. Coupe and he gets treated like a KING everytime he is in there. Free food, pop, etc. He has taken his car there and had LOTS of work done with nothing but great experiences. They even did a re-flash for him to up his performance at no cost. :icon23:

my local dealer orders food for you, gives you drinks, everything. however this is only so when you turn around and say, hey you scratched my car, they can say....yea but we bought you lunch bro.

I keep a bag of Nissan crush washers and an extra drain plug in my glove box and I make a point of telling them to use a new crush washer each time. If they don't have one of their own, or plan on re-using the one that came off the car, I tell them to use one of mine.

I never use a crush washer and do my own oi changesl. Never had an issue on any car since day one. The only issues I ever have is when someone else does the work on my car.

Get this and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

That is the right model - no need for the nipple.

Don't know why anyone would let the dealership touch their car. I can have the oil in my car change and off the ramps in 20 minutes and I know it's done right.
|
My guess is the dumb tech can't figure out how to get the already crushed old washer off the plug.

When I did my first oil change, there wasn't a crush washer on. I went and bought 5. I went to the dealer this past weekend to order a lower hardline for the clutch, due to I stripped it when going to change over to my SS clutch line. It was defiantly over tighten from the MF. Never even got it off. Just left it as is until part comes in. Anyways, the guy has seen me there a couple of times and said I'll give you the hookup, $23 bucks. Well I had already had Courtsy Nissans website pulled up on my phone and showed him how it only cost $12. He reply's there shipping cost also. I said I know, but still cheaper. He said he would do it for $13. He had to feel dumb. Guys, at least do your own changes. Buy the basic tools or find some friends. |
