Ownership of 370z, any problems?
I did a search and I couldn't really find a general thread regarding problems anyone might have minus some minor oil temp problems when driving hard.
As with any first year model there's bound to be problems, some major, some minor. After owning your 370z how many miles have you put on and have you encountered any problems? |
I've put 1500 miles on my touring manual, and have come across no problems. I believe that the base owners here have been noticing seat movement when turning hard.

I did not see that thread, but after reading through most seems to be minor gripes than real mechanical or electrical problems, thought there are a couple.
I'm talking about stuff that you had to take to the dealer to get fixed/ checked out. ECU throwing Error codes etc. Basically anything that can turn into a serious problem later, but if the mods wants that thread to be the problem thread feel free to close this one. |
I've put a little over 4,200 miles on mine so far and have had zero problems.
I don't really have any minor complaints either (not that there aren't things I'd like to see on the car that aren't offered). I was a bit worried about the "oil temp" issue but that has been pretty much put to bed for me...if you are going to track the car then you should have an oil cooler; if not, it shouldn't be anything to be concerned about so long as you keep your oil fresh/changed regularly. |
I have 3700 miles in 2 months with zero major problems.
The only gripe I have are several rattles I've had to track down. The latest being in the headliner. What's up with the damn rattles!!! Am I asking too much when you spend $40K on a car that you shouldn't have rattles? Anyone dealing with headliner rattles? What's the best approach to fixing them? Other than this gripe and aside from a few design mods (more storage--a place for an MP3 player other than the cup holder), a more seamless power plug that doesn't look like it was an afterthought) the car's been great. -ZCarGo- |
I'm autocrossing mine and haven't noticed any rattles, in the headliner or otherwise...sorry to hear about your problem with that.
That was always a complaint with my F-bodies but you had to sort of expect that with those cars! It didn't stop me from loving every one I had, though! |
I just checked and I'm at 6,712 miles on the odometer as this is written. No issues to report. I do wish Nissan had mounted the side mirrors a bit lower on the body to reduce how they obstruct my view to the left/right when I'm at a stop sign but I've learned to crane my neck a bit to overcome this.

Even though the mileage is still low I'm impressed by the lack of any serious mechanical/electrical problems so far.
|
Don't get caught in traffic anywhere it is hot and don't push the car. That way you will avoid the major flaw in the car. Lack of an oil cooler.
|
If you are married or dating you might find that it attracts too much female attention... LOL
|
I thought the lack of an oil cooler is a non issue unless you track it. My daily driving is pretty tame with only short bursts of speed.

isnt it the same engine as the 350 with higher displacement and hp??? dont really have major complaints 1000 miles into it |
Not a single issue so far. ::knock on wood::
|
Not a real complaint just a frustrating 1st to 2nd gear shift. Clunky is the only way I can describe it. Getting used to it though.
I almost got it figured out, as to the exact rev count to maintain, so as to avoid the clunk |
^ my 350 has the same problem. Went with an auto with the 370, which has it's own little quirks.
|
Even though the engine is directly from the g37 the chassis is completely new and redesigned, not sure if the engine has been tuned any differently from the g37.
Regarding the shift from 1st to 2nd I feel like this is normal for most cars these days. I experienced this in my 335i when I first got it as well. It was extremely frustrating, but after a month of practicing and trying different shift patterns you'll eventually figure out how to shift smoothly. |

It's pretty temperamental. Some days the gearbox and clutch feels absolutely perfect... other days the clutch feels spongy and the gearbox a little notchy. Dunno if it's just me going crazy or if the car is just moody. Always good to have a car with character, though. :driving: |
