Question about the pearl white color...
I just wanted to see how the pearl white color holds up after a few years. I hate seeing white cars that are out on the road and they look like they have been urinated on. You know like that yellow dirty tinged look. Does that happen with the pearl white color on the Z after a few years?
|
a little care goes a long way. no matter the manufacturer, neglected paint is neglected paint. It all turns to crap if not taken car of in some form or fashion. Our pearl white is no different, ive seen good and bad after a few years. I take very very good care of mine and expect its sheen to last a long long time. hope this helps!

Well i had myne for over 1 year. I had my car egged (ya too many haters) scratched, hit, bird crapped every day, out on the sun and dust every day, snowed, rained, heated up, basically abused. I must admit its the most unnoticeable fade out of all the colors that nissan offer and no you cant see the egg spots ether. Still looks good and turns heads.

It's a beautiful "color" . The brightest there is :)

I'm on my second white Z, the color holds up if you take care of it. It's the rock chips you have to worry about....
|
second on rock chips, which is y it's a good idea to just pay someone you know to repaint the front bumper every summer or two.
just wash the car every weekend or every other, dont forget to polish/wax, and it'll be solid for a while |
3rd on the rock chips. Also, certain blowing leaves and seeds stain the paint and are very visible. They require immediate removal and then washing of the Z, or you will need bug/tar remover and lots of elbow grease to remove the stains. Of course, this is probably true of any white car.
I'm planning on stripping the wax off mine sometime soon and putting on a synthetic wax. Supposed to be good for light colored cars. |
I had a white car not Pearl White or Nissan for about 7 yrs, but like posted above a little care goes a long way.
White is a beautiful color and some flaws will go unnoticed. But like with any other color taking good care of it will make the paint color mantain it richness and brigthness. |
Thanks for the replies, will definately get the pearl white now. I was debating between that or the gun metal, but now i'm convinced.

Just like anything else, paint must be properly cared for. It will look as good as the amount of care the owner puts in to it. I can show you cars around here that are 1 month old, and already look like a$$. It sickens me. On another note: Jay, I have been meaning to ask you. WHO is that picture on your avatar? looks familiar. Quote:
I finally decided to take the plunge and got one for the Z. Best purchase I've made for any of the cars I've owned. To this day, I have ZERO chips. Nada. Zilch. None. In addition, bugs come off with the slightest wipe using detail spray. No yellowing. No peeling. And warrantied for 5 years. Best part is, just get a new clear bra if the need arises. Paint stays showroom floor new underneath. Can't even tell clear bra is on there unless I tell people. |
Also just in case you have not see it yet check out Junkman's guide. Follow that and you will be all set.

Have had various Pearl White Nissans for years (07 350Z, 99 Max, 96 300ZX and 92 Max) currently the Z and the 03 Max. The Max's paint looks as good as it did 8 yrs ago when I purchased except for some rock chips up front ditto for the Z. Should have had both of em clear bra'd, oh well. Overall it will last as long as you take care of it as the guys have said.

Pearl White is the best looking and fastest Z color. :D
I think it depends on where you store it, how often you drive it and how you take care of it. |
mmmmm white.
great looking color, it was in my top 3. |
Pearl white was my second choice... and almost got one when I was having trouble locating my PG but the mismatch between the plastic and metal surfaces was the deciding factor.

I bought a 2009 back in October of 2010. I had been sitting on a dealers lot since it arrived and that dealer was bought out by another who in turn had it sitting on his lot. He definitely did not want a 2009 on his in 2011 so I bought it for a good price.
The point is that this white Z sat on the lot all this time in rain and shine, heat and snow and I am sure they did not polish it. Well to answer you question, the color is perfectly white...no yellow at all |

Also, RiCharlie, did you know that I bought my PW Z (2010 model) shortly after you posted your car stating that you bought it (in the "strictly pw" thread)? Your car, along with another couple of PW Z's, helped with my decision to get that color... particularly your avatar. So thanks again ;) |
Oh PW, you look so good in any time of day or night.

It's easy to take care of and looks nice.
Older paints tended to yellow more from UV - back in the 90's. Newer paints do not tend to do this as much, if at all. |
I hate the black water stain on my PW, usually at both door where the mirror is. That thing is hard to remove, my NXT gen 2 car wash cant remove it, clay also cannot, only cleaner wax...any other option ?
|
any color should start right off with a good wash, clay, wash, buffing, and seal and/or waxing. I am on my third layer of sealant right now and plan to just keep layering it on. You should see the water just flow off the car when i'm washing it... NOTHING sticks to it that a hose set on jet can't get off.
As others have said... care of the car is what makes the difference. |
by the way... IF a car has yellowed like that.. it would likely brighten up quite a bit from a top notch detail... but again that would only be from neglect of the car.
