Different Key Fob
Hey people, first post from me,
I'm in the UK, our forums are pretty dead as the cars rather expesive here and costs over £110 to fill the tank..anways I've been watching these forums for ages and i thought i'd ask a question Loads of you guys on here have a keyfob with 3 buttons on it, my manual states i should have 3 buttons, but my bottom button is a blanker. I understand the third button can open windows, set off an alarm etc.. My Nissan dealers dont know what i'm talking about so i wondered if anyone has any idea how i can get a uprated fob or if anyone the states has upgraded. My dealership thought it was a bit petty and not worth their time to look into it for me.. Thanks in advance. Dave (2011 Lemans Blue, GT) |
Wait. So you're saying your key fob doesn't look like this?

Yeah it does, exactly the same. But the 'alarm' button is blank for me and doesnt click in.. obviously its not a button, but it'd be nice to get one that does open windows etc.

My FOB has a "Z" on it instead of Nissan

Hmm, no panic button...you may get raped
lol FYI - I've seen FOB's with the Panic button on EBAY...so you can definitely get one |
haha, i dont wanna get raped.. i think i'll buy one..can you guarantee it'll save me ?

the 09's says nissan, '10 and '11 say Z
|
Hmmm. Why would Nissan delete the panic button from the FOB in a deferent market? Maybe some kind of socialist law against panic buttons?
|
I will say I hate when I accidentally set off the panic button when I'm in my underground parking
|
You would want the panic button over there especially if you pulled up to a Football match displaying the wrong colors :icon17:

"The UNLOCK button operation also allows
you to open a window that is equipped with the automatic open/close function. (See “POWER WINDOWS” in the “2. Instruments and controls” section.) To open the window, push the door UNLOCK button*2 on the Intelligent Key for about 3 seconds after the door is unlocked. To stop opening, release the UNLOCK button. Window cannot be closed using the Intelligent Key." |

But it's a premium plastic :icon17:

Who would want to put the key anywhere near the paint if avoidable?
|
It doesnt look like my key has any decent features. Windows dont open etc.
|
I think you are better off without a panic button. Mine is only actuated in my pants pocket accidently from time to time.
One of the few uses I can see for the panic button is to distract somebody while you draw a firearm. |
Man, I was complaining about paying $4.15 a gallon for 93. Glad I don't live in merry old England.

^This. Thanks for bringing this up. If you hadn't, I would have.
Neodc, go outside and hold down your unlock button and see what happens. Report back here upon completion! :) |

I'm sorry for rescue this "old" post...
I'm in the same case: my key only has 2 buttons (open and close). I don't have pannic button, and my windows CANNOT be opened/closed with the key... I'm writing from spain, so I think this kind of "functions" are only enabled on some countries (depending of the market or something like that). I'm a "newbie" with japan cars, but I have a lot of experience with VAG cars, and in these other cars is exactly the same: some of the "features" (pannic button, for example) are only enabled on some countries. But (at least in VAG cars) you can enable all these features with VAGCOM (a program to "manage" and diagnose these cars) and a simple ODB2 wire... so I want to think that it's the same with Nissan cars... Regards from Spain, |
