Bumping an old one, but I'm about to pull the trigger on the SeaSucker and was wondering if there have been any updates as far as options are concerned.

Thanks for the input. :tiphat: Looks like the way to go!

To all those using the SeaSucker Talon:
how do you like the rack and do you recommend it? What's the most optimal mounting position for the least amount of wind resistance? Also, do the crank arms spin and hit/touch the car? Do you secure them to the frame? Is anyone using their cable anchor? |

(#1) Yes. I like it and would recommend the SeaSucker Talon. I previously had the Boofsquire rack (another good product) but needed something compatible with any vehicle. (#2) Not sure. I currently have the front fork mounted right behind the driver's side door (visible in picture #1 below), but the front fork can be mounted at the top of the front windshield (see post #78 by SiRay6). (#3) Arms don't spin as far as I know and there is no contact to rear window by the pedals. I don't have them secured while driving. (#4) I don't have the anchor cable and would like to see if there is an alternative. I don't want to have a cable dangling from my Z. My Talon came with the upgraded Delta Hitch Pro fork mount which is very easy and quick to use. Just had to buy a padlock (visible in picture #2 below) which provides some security. I do have to remove the Talon every time i take off my bike at a trail to deter thieves, but it's more versatile then my previous rack so I don't mind. I have gone 80 mph for 40 miles with no issues. This is the farthest and fastest I have driven so far with the SeaSucker Talon attached. On a side note, I always have people stop by my car and inquire about my SeaSucker Talon. Good conversation piece. http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...mpey/photo.jpg http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r637/slumpey/2.jpg http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r637/slumpey/3.jpg |
Seasucker Mini Bomber. Works great.. It will work
on any car you have. It may be the last bike rack you need to buy. :) |
I got the Amazon rack, I will be driving like this for 3 hours tomorrow.

I think I'm going to order the Talon soon. I believe I'll give that locking plate a try as well; but I'm going to dip it in some of that liquid plastic to give it a rubber coating. The bare metal scares me that it might scratch the paint.

Amazon.com: Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1/1/4 and 2-Inch Receiver): Sports & Outdoors
It's a knock off from a $300 Thule unit I think |
Sorry to bump an old thread again, but I really need a bike rack for my Z, and would prefer a roof mounted style that does not involve a trailer hitch.
Seasuckers are out of stock, Boofsquire is apparently discontinued, and every other link posted was some saris.com website that doesn't come up anymore. Any ideas? |
I'm curious if that rack from amazon I'm assuming is removable. But is the hitch you install to attach it is that removable. Would feel a bit weird to ride around with a hitch on a 370. I know I would not like the way it looks regardless.
|
Screw it, I'll just throw it in the back. Not having a bike rack was just a poor excuse I made to not exercise. :shakes head:

The hitch isn't removable, but I have it fab'ed to a point that it is hidden. http://imageshack.us/a/img715/4954/i...0302125828.jpg |
Sweet thanks. Yeah if I can find a way to hide it that should work fine.
|
You have to be very passionate rider for me to ever think about putting a bike rack on a car like this. To each his own though.
|
I rarely drive my car or ride my bike, but the hitch has come in handy numerous of times for towing, biking and the aluminum cargo carrier is nice to have.

I started looking for bike racks for my Z, but cant find any.. I know you guys feel it its the worst idea ever, but when you have one car, you're limited. Does anyone know where I can find a decent roof/hatch rack?
Thanks |

I am a big fan of the SeaSucker mounting system. I use that to mount my trike to the car. The bike mounts with the suction cups only touching glass, which I really prefer over them attached to the paint!

Dido for me. I use it twice a week with no issues so far. See my review a few posts back... http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ml#post1787851 |

how do you grab the water bottles while driving?

Bike rack / trailer hitch
Boy, that looks great. Putting a lot of confidence in those suction cups. I have a trailer hitch that has been professionally modified (from the 350) to fit the 370, that I doubt I'm going to use , if interested.

Thanks sledchopper...love my Orbea
Good to know you are having success at "top speed". Will see how it all functions this weekend when driving out to the local club ride. |
Nice bikes fellas! Nice to see others on the forum share the passion for the sport.

Unfortunately it looks like Boofsquire has decided to go on Hiatus?? other then Sea Sucker ( I dont feel safe with that design in comparison to something that clamps down) Are there any other brands for the 370z ?
