2009 370z trade in for 2011
I am having a hard time deciding if I want to trade my 09 370z for a new 2011z
I currently have the Touring model with 16k on it. I have been looking to upgrade to Touring with sport package. Besides the spoiler, bigger breaks and wheels what else is different? I wont be getting the Nav unit since I don't care for that you cant get lost in El Paso. |

Don't do it. It's not worth the $7 or 8K extra you will be having to pay for the depreciation and the sport package price. Just keep the Z you have now and buy aftermarket. If you really must trade it in, then at least wait another year when Nissan usually does it's usual midcycle refresh.

Welcome lost here in el paso too. What color you got. I mainly hang out on 375. I'll give you a friendly wave if I see you.
|
My car color is Brilliant silver. I will give you the wave when I see you. I mostly run around 375 as well as most of my friends live on the east and I live on the northeast.

I don't normally like to give people my thoughts on what they do with their own money, but since you're asking ... trading an 09 in on an 11 is financially irresponsible.
|
I would just get a LSD, 19" wheelset, and BBK instead of buying a new car...

2011 has heated mirrors and rear view cam (with nav). Unless you really want gun metallic, not worth what you have to pay on top of trade.

Trading in is a bad idea because you're going to get about 30% less for your car than it's worth. Sell it private party. Second, there's a shortage of used cars in the market now so it should be easier than ever to sell your car on Autotrader, or the like. I sold my '99 Chrysler 300M two days after the ad went live and had multiple offers. I got 50% more than what the dealer offered me ($3,300 versus $2,200). That being said, trading in a 2-year old car is a bad idea because you've already absorbed the worst amount of the depreciation cycle. A financial planner would tell you to wait two years, sell your car private party and buy the then used 2011 in 2013 from some schlep who's willing to eat the depreciation, not you.

Why do I hear a lot of people assuming a refresh will be done for 370z next year or two? If I am not wrong, the 350z kept the same base from 2002–2009. Consider the market for the 370z is not as good as 350z, I don't think Nissan is going to do much to it soon.
Anyways, if you have money to waste, then do it so you can be satisfy. |

They had a mid cycle refresh on the 350z in 2006 |

The sport package is a good deal, but if you take the difference and go aftermarket, you can get better components and make the car more yours, since you have the 7AT you already have DRM and can't get SRM.
|
350z had three different engine variations from start to finish... VQ35DE, VQ35 high rev , than VQ35HR that had 300 HP....
also body changed a little, headlights.. interior changes... they really haven't done any of that for the 370z except for color changes and heated mirrors... SRM is nice, first time I ever experienced it was today in another Z, pretty damn cool BUT not worth the hit you will take... I wouldn't mind trying to be the first one to get SRM into my car though, lol Its your money, and if it makes sense to you to get the sports package than do it up. But as other said upgrading it would be better but it still will cost a good amount.. A good LSD like quaife (much better than stock one ) = 1100 plus labor or a used VLSD = 400ish but good luck finding one (took me months) akebonos - 1200ish used 1500-1700 new rays wheels = 1200ish spoiler = 300-500 all together about 4 + thousand I would estimate but you would be paying out of pocket, if you trade in you can finance all of it.. I wouldn't but its up to you... how many miles on your current Z? Also you can try to post on here to possibly trade, There may be someone with base sport than would do a straight trade for touring no sport ... you never know. |
