I need some counseling...

So...a little over a week ago I took my car to the local Nissan service department because the car was stumbling when it tried to start (after it sits for awhile). They look at everything and say "we can't find any issues, a level four tech looked over everything and the car is fine"

2 days later my Service Engine Soon light comes on and the car is getting worse by the day. I call them and tell them my issues and they say bring it back in. I start the car to take it to them and this time it's REAL bad. The RPM's barely make it above .5 and it is choking out horribly..BARELY running and shaking like crazy. I shift to reverse and the RPM's smooth out and all feels OK. I start driving it and as I accelerate it wants to stall out and feels like it "mis-fires". However, it has no problem once I get it up to about 60 mph and it runs fine. I get at a stop light and it starts to stumble again and shake
So now my baby is sitting in the express service bay while I sit and wait hours to hear a diagnostic. Why do I have the feeling I am going to be getting bad news from Nissan and also have them drain my wallett.
The reason I am so nervous is because of all the bad reviews I have read with people taking their cars to the stealership.
09' Coupe with 10k miles on it...:shakes head:

happytheman 05-20-2011 08:20 AM

Are you still under warranty? Don't worry too much. Although it could be a number of things...MAF sensor, 02 sensor, vacuum leak and etc. I'm sure it's gonna end up by being something simple.

GZ3 05-20-2011 08:46 AM

Is it modded?!

If it's an '09 with 10K miles you won't be out a dime. Warranty FTW! Stop fretting, even though it does suck to see your baby go under the knife

(This is why I am FIRMLY in the "anti-mod-- buy one fast enough for you stock" crowd.)

No mods that should void warranty. Only thing I have done to it so far is the tail piece of the GT HAUS exhaust.

Footloose301 05-20-2011 09:07 AM

Sounds like the MAF

Pulling the codes should solve the "what is it" pretty fast.

whoady4shoady 05-20-2011 10:01 AM

Your still under full warranty. I wish you the best.

VCuomo 05-20-2011 10:56 AM

Drain you wallet - not unless you let them. There's this neat thing called a "manufacturer's warranty", and ...

Some of you guys and your worrying just cracks me up, although you certainly have my sympathy for the hassle and inconvenience of having a problem like this!

Now, if you bought your Z used, then you're gonna be out some bucks - and there's no way to know how much the repair should be until you know what's wrong.

Best wishes either way!

Nismoracer 05-20-2011 11:14 AM

Update on what it was?

+2.....................:iagree:

hansoac 05-20-2011 12:35 PM

they haven't had a chance to look at it yet because they have been "slammed".
The car was bought used with 7,000 miles on it...but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be under warranty? The warranty transferred.

happytheman 05-20-2011 12:59 PM

Seriously? Wow, your stealership is taking their own sweet time. Are you sitting there waiting for the repair?

007MI6 05-20-2011 01:35 PM

Damn dude. All the best, it should be covered under the warranty anyway. I feel for you. Let us know how it goes.

USMCASA 05-20-2011 02:10 PM

As long as the vin wasnt flagged from the previous owner, it will still be covered.

MyZ4U2C 05-20-2011 03:22 PM

You should still be under warranty, basic warranty transfers over

hansoac 05-20-2011 04:34 PM

welp. They are keeping it all weekend and are giving me a rental car tomorrow morning. Go figure...first weekend without rain and the sun is gonna be shining with beautiful weather.....and i'm Z'less

happytheman 05-20-2011 05:28 PM

Was you warranty discussed? I'm glad to hear they are giving you a loaner....I'm wondering if you're gonna be pimpin' the Versa?

doublea2527 05-20-2011 05:52 PM

They give out Cubes down here for rentals. lol

gr8-wrx 05-20-2011 07:39 PM

Nice that they're giving you a rental. :)

sucasa 05-20-2011 10:37 PM

Relax man. if you have a 2009 or higher model year, u are fully warrantied with a zero deductible. It does not matter if you bought it used, new or whatever, the OEM warranty is still in effect, enjoy the weekend, let Nissan worry about it.

Your mods should not have impact on the warranty.

Keep us posted.

007MI6 05-20-2011 11:12 PM

Glad to hear you at least got a rental, too bad about no Z for a great weekend though.

hansoac 05-21-2011 11:50 AM

Thanks fellers. I pick up the rental in an hr. I requested a CTS-V...lets see what happens :) According to the phone rep..they give out all types of rentals as Yark (nissan) owns 5 different manufacturer dealerships in the area.

Good luck with that one.

hansoac 05-21-2011 08:48 PM

Oh yeah..rocking a Gold Maxima.
Haha..actually the car drives quite nice...kinda makes me nervous because the throttle responds better than my Z it feels like?
I am not saying the car feels faster..its just when I hit the gas the car has 0 hesitation.

USMCASA 05-22-2011 07:14 AM

^lucky bastard. i had to stop by a grocery store to pick up some brown bags when they put me in a bright blue versa. lets see went from bright yellow Z to bright blue versa, yeah i was definitely hoping no one recognized me in that thing.

ProfessorDave 05-22-2011 07:39 PM

I'll take plug wires in the pool if it hasn't been taken already.

Oh, and demand a GT-R as your rental!

:icon18: I actually brought that up to him while I was waiting at the stealership. I asked if they had a GT-R I could look at or even sit in. Stealer rep said "We don't keep one on hand in Toledo, we figure nobody around here would buy one"
In a way he is right though..people think I have a Ferrari because Toledo, Ohio is filled with jacked up 4x4's and minivans...the occasional John Deer Combine/Tractor during crop season.

Evil Sports 05-23-2011 01:36 PM

Bump for the diagnosis

hansoac 05-23-2011 01:39 PM

Called the stealership about an hour ago. They have had the car since Thursday evening and still cannot figure out what is wrong with it. They claim "it only happens when it is cold so it takes awhile to find the issue" But they have had all day friday, saturday, and this morning.....

spearfish25 05-23-2011 02:51 PM

Call Nissan North America.

hansoac 05-24-2011 03:05 PM

Well I got my baby back!! They said they "replaced three injectors"...picked it up and it seems to be running good. Only time will tell.

hansoac 06-02-2011 11:13 AM

^ I spoke too soon. AGAIN, only after having it back a week the Z starts roughly after it has been sitting for awhile AND the SES light is back on....sigh

ChrisSlicks 06-02-2011 12:24 PM

Crap. Hopefully they can figure out the real problem.

kidkotic2001 06-02-2011 02:22 PM

Take it back and get the maxima again, That sucks that it happend again. I would call nissan north america if they do not look into issue faster this time. Let us know what the stealership tells you.

Yeah it is scheduled for right away Monday morning. I really want a Juke because I am thinking about buying one for my winter vehicle..but I don't think I will get that lucky.

Drex 06-02-2011 02:42 PM

tell them you are thinking of buying a juke, i bet they give you one as a loaner

007MI6 06-02-2011 05:17 PM

Agreed, if you let them know that you are interested in one there might be a decent chance of getting one. As long as they have one available to loan you. My wife ended up with one for a day, it is very "artistic" inside.
