370Z vs TT-RS
Just came across this. Surprising outcome! And who knew about the TT-RS brakes.
Oh yeah, who can speak German? I made out about 10 words. |
What I got from it (which most people can I'm just condensing it). The Z wins...here's the breakdown
Nissan 370z -Great/fun handling -Solid brakes -Decent price, attainable without being ridiculous -Got marked down for "leistung" which, best I can tell, means performance or power. Coming from German cars I can see where they may feel power is low haha Audi TTRS -Good engine/power -Good handling -Mediocre braking -High price Z wins!!! If anyone could elaborate further please do, this is just my quick and dirty version of a worthwhile video! |
Schnick, Schnack, schnuch.
|
:icon18: I loled at the end
|
My crappy work computer wont allow me to see the vid. Thats a strange comparo. The TT is like 60k right? And its alot faster. But props on the Z win.
|
interesting
|
I think they were comparing 0-100 kph (0-60) performance at the end
There time was 5.9.... slowest I've seen. Silly Germans were bagging it me thinks... Edit: Even the TT RS should be under 4 seconds. |
TT-RS can't break 4s. It comes in at 4.5-4.9 which is on par with the quickest of the 370Z times.
More interestingly is that the TT-RS was less than a second quicker around their track. I think the Z just takes some skill to drive quickly, and puts down the most impressive times when you trash the OEM RE050As and put some real tires on it (aka RE-11s). |
Whoever did the editing must recently got new software for his computer trying out all the flashy video transitions or something. Got a headache just watching it. :D
|
I'm pretty sure they said at one point "And the Z doesn't break down twice a month!"
|
Either car is a win. But at $60k I would be looking at a cayman unless the Audi is a lot better.
|
The TT-RS is ridiculous EXPENSIVE! So best bang for the buck= 370Z!
...doesn't matter what numbers the TT put down. |

My buddy sent this to me a few months back. We mocked their relationship.:superghey: |
I'd take the 370 over the TT any day. I'm not a fan of the new TTs, though I did enjoy the older ones. We almost bought one for the GF a couple years ago.

This car is impressive..These are the numbers from car and driver. But the U.S. does not get this car. We get an Audi without the 7 speed dual clutch. We will only see a 6 speed manual. On the flip side, U.S. spec cars will have 360hp, not 335hp. The cars will likely be just as fast as one another since the extra hp will offset the faster shifting DCT.

Also: Our cars have had bad brakes press also!! (Have we already forgotten?) |
Yeah and the Audi = High Maintenace $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ after the warranty is gone.
|
$60k
That Audi is awesome.
I'll trade straight up:tiphat::driving: |

That's why we shop for bang for the buck because we are not part of that market! That's also why I can afford to have and play with my Z. ;) |

JDM 4 LIFE... there's always a better car than a JDM until that JDM is modded. People like to put caps and limitations in the forums to what our jdms can do modded. Then they go to the track and learn the reality.
(Yeah yeah... we car comparing stock, but jdms are tuners non the least. And if we can compare cars that are 30k more then y not throw in the modded factor? Only fair.) Audi is better. Ok, yeah.. for $60k, damn I would hope so. Truth is though. You can own a lambo and drive like a complete dunk... and another can be driving a Z like it was a ferrari. So much emphasis on numbers and so little emphasis on skills. That's why people are crashing sports cars left and right. Fairlady+Skyline= affordable cars built to match or exceed performance of cars double the price. Refined? Who bought a sports car to be refined? Refined and sports car match like p1ss and mattress. |
Frankly, our cars don't have bad brakes. They have bad brake pads and can use more cooling. With better cooling, the stock pads would actually be fine for a little C&D test. And their crash in the wall wasn't brake fade...I'd almost guarantee they ice'd.
I'd love to have the TT-RS. My father has a TTS and it's a sick little car. The double clutch is incredibly fast but also incredibly boring to use. Thank goodness Audi realizes that the manual is the car to deliver over here. 99.99% of TTRS owners will never time-trial race their cars, so the twin clutch benefits really do nothing except driving experience. CMike, Thanks for posting that link. I missed that. 3.6s is stupid fast and the territory of AWD cars or extreme RWD supercars only (or less extreme, rear-engine supercars :)). The Z can't compete with those numbers. Interestingly though, the Z's track lap time wasn't far off the TT-RS. Drop the $$ difference between the two cars into the Z and the TT-RS is toast. |
This!

is the audi fast in a straightline because of the tranny or does the car actuqally make more than what it is rated
i know my wife would love the tt way more than the z |
The problem with comparisons like this is that you bring in all the "it's faster so it's better" type comments. It must be hard to comprehend that sometimes, speed is not the biggest factor and after driving a few Audis s (TTS, B9 S4), they may be fast and refined but they are not really exciting for the driver in my opinion. There are many cars that are slower than most, but offer more fun factor. Isn't that the point?
|
370Zs brakes are great...if you get the Nismo pads like I did. :D
Even though they do dust a sh*t ton. |

No it isn't. A roll out is not a rolling start. Think about it: how do you roll with launch control?
A roll out is the most common method of launching a car, it's also what's used at drag strips. Basically, there is 5-feet of space from your front wheels and the starting line. This 5-feet effectively adds 2MPH to your overall 1/4 trap, as well as shaves time. |
Here is Inside Line's assessment of roll out. I tend to agree that using roll out with 1/4 mile times seems appropriate as the 1/4 mile convention is from drag racing (where roll out is used). Conversely, roll out in 0-60mph times defeats the purpose of calling it 0-60. Roll out makes it ~5-60mph and falsely improves a vehicle's perceived acceleration time.
How We Test Cars and Trucks |
:inoutroflpuke:
Hey I have an idea. Let's get rid of our Z's and make this the mustang GT/Audi TTRS forums. Why drive our now useless Z's that don't match up to 420hp v8's and 60k german limited production cars that will most likely be upmarketed to the highest bidder??? :inoutroflpuke: Thread is fail. |
^^^ Huh?
