They were overpriced products anyway

Red__Zed 04-28-2011 11:12 PM

no real loss. They stopped being the company they used to be a long time ago.

Da.Menace 04-28-2011 11:55 PM

Sad to see yet another Japanese company go under (In USA that is)

KillerBee370 04-29-2011 12:32 AM

Aww man... now where will all the turbocharged rsx/honduh ricers get their super loud blow off valves? :stirthepot:

KillerBee370 04-29-2011 12:44 AM

On a serious note.. the fact that the US dollar has "substantially weakened" is a gross understatement.

red6spd 04-29-2011 12:56 AM

Some peeps are probably gonna lose there jobs, that sucks. But yea I have never owned or even come close to buying any of there products.

jaedub 04-29-2011 01:38 AM

I thought they were overpriced

RedlineAZ 04-29-2011 03:19 AM

Too many knock offs of their products didn't help them either I'm sure.

UNKNOWN_370 04-29-2011 05:02 AM

I had a lot of there products in the 90's. In the last decade, I haven't seen much i would use.

Rep added. Some people just dont wanna listen, the general public are stewpid.

whoady4shoady 04-29-2011 09:32 AM

^^^^^Yup, its really scary.

kenchan 04-29-2011 09:37 AM

that's too bad for HKS USA. gotta play with the times if you want to win. they kept making stubborn products not suited for the US economy.

not that im saying they should build cheepo crap like the rest of asia, they should have gone into OEM aftermarket for domestic-built sporty cars for bread and butter. consumer aftermarket bits for fun.

not sure wat they were expecting. seems a lot of j-companies are now suffering the bubble-bursted generation in management level (45-50yrs old) with no vision. i see this everyday and pisses me off.

Saw this video a while ago, agreed 100%. The government's spending problem and the US people's spending problem are intrinsically linked and in many ways one in the same. No one ever wants to cut spending, even when they can't afford their level of consumption. The problem is that it's easy to add programs/incentives/services but politicians have a much harder time taking those away even when it is a necessity to decrease spending because that would be political suicide.

While I don't think buying silver ingots is the best form of action, it's a shame the US has reached its current position. :(

The problem is... that no one listened for all those years that this could have been turned around. Now, it's too late (almost).

Glad I don't live in the USA. Nothing personal to you folks.... but we're in much better shape up north of the border.

You're from Canada? If you think your economy isn't intricately tied to that of the US, you're in for a rude awakening.

Yep. Whatever happens to the American economy will reach out and touch us up here. I too watched that video in its entirety just now. It's exactly what my investment advisor preached to me yesterday. She pulled out a real Canadian silver dollar circa 1962 and a Canadian dollar bill. Which would buy more gasoline she asked? I now understand. I'm staying the course with my investments in physical gold and other precious metals.

nuTinmuch 04-29-2011 04:28 PM

Not getting into a political discussion, but I will say that everything that has been mentioned or hinted at has been debated by numerous economists.

I will also say this: HKS' departure has little to nothing to do with anything but the fact that they just aren't that great. I've constantly rolled by eyes at the hella JDM yo sort of attitude that many people seem to have.

Most people have been buying knock-offs because, really, there is no reason not to. They are just as good and cost less. That's competition.

Top Secret will probably be next.

That is too bad - my MR2 SC was setup with an HKS Stage II kit, nice boost in power.

TRD suspension though :)

Brazilbro 04-29-2011 11:02 PM

Greddy just killed them, what small amout of people buy JDM products are buying Greddy not HKS or BLITZ for that matter.. they both have fell behide. Neither offer great products for todays (2000+) cars. Best thing HKS ever made was the VPC , to bad that was 20 years ago.

AK370Z 04-29-2011 11:52 PM

This is indeed very sad. I always liked HKS products. I have the HKS Hi power exhaust on my car and I just love every bit of it! I mean I don't know how much impact it'll have on us because can't we just overnight the HKS from lol:icon17:

But yeah their product is bit pricey but it's good quality product. They(HKS) will be missed :(

3SeventyZ 04-30-2011 06:20 AM

Well damn, that's too bad..

kenchan 04-30-2011 07:11 AM

AK its only the usa office. They were given the chance. Just failed unfortunately.
