My view from the office saturday morning.

Unfortunately, its an iphone pic and it was 7am, so you can't make out the details with the sun angle, but the white building next to the Southwest jet is Stillen's headquarters. Thought it was kind of neat, but would have been neater if the picture worked.

Hell no! 737s!

Didn't get over there Dai, there was nothing I needed, although I think I'm buying a set of Recaros from them now.

Phone was in airplane mode, and airport doesn't open until 7am. We were lined up to go at 6:47 and had to sit there for 13 minutes, just like all those other planes, but we were 2nd in line!

Who do you fly 73's for? DAL? I'm across the concourse with a (soon to be replaced) cursive "a" on my tail. Cheers.:tiphat:

yep! and yes Montez, I would like to fly that CRJ, but not at the prevailing rates.

For those of you here that fly them, I'm not knocking you at all, we all need to start somewhere, and I give great discounts on the powdercoating to my commuter friends!!!

No 737s or CRJs here...just the occasional puddle jumper and polyester covered aerobatic airplane fills my day. By night, I'm Batman! :tiphat:

Saab 340B's for me. I'd gladly trade a day in the 717 for a few laps around the pattern in the old Swedish tank again. I don't think I'll ever (again) be the pilot I was back then. Everyone has to start somewhere for sure.

I probably would to in the ole "Vibrating B**ch" or "Swith B**ch" as we called the 120 depending on your Flt crew from the MD-83.

man, I just saw some video on the weather channel from inside the terminal, that was something else!

kenchan 04-28-2011 09:06 AM

yah, was going to say, wasn't that the airport that got... (next pict) yes it was. :(

Dembflyr 04-28-2011 11:11 AM

Yeah. That was some crazy stuff right there.

I can only imagine how much worse it could've been if American Airlines didn't shrink their operations last year. That airport is a ghost town compared to what it used to be.

My heart goes out to you guys. I hope the rebuilding process is a quick one. Mid-Western folks can bounce back from anything.

HEY NOW!!! I am not FAA!

I work 0000-0830.

I think it is going to be a fairly slow recovery process. From what I hear it is going to take a while to repair the Terminal since all the glass has to be custom made. I have not heard any plans for the C-concourse. The last thing I heard was it was deemed structurally unsound and no personnel other than airport authority & construction crews were allowed inside.

In the end I think we actually really lucked out. The airport took a pretty good hit but we got her back up and running quite smoothly. It was really amazing that we had no serious injuries. The extra unutilized space came in handy allowing us to quickly relocate the airlines to the B & D gates. The ATCT was not damaged in any way. A few Navaids were damaged and FAA tech ops is making repairs. We had a lot of damaged to the airfield to our lights & signs following the track of the tornado. Over 150 fixtures (lights & signs) were either damaged or missing). It made the nightly inspection an absolute bear.

How do you like the vortex generators in front of the "aerodynamic" windows……(some of my work)
