You should have told him BEFORE you unlocked the door, and let him in.
Something like, 'hey listen, not sure if you know this but I take a lot of pride in my car and I'd appreciate it if you tried to knock off the dirt on your shoes first before getting in. Thanks'. Just my .02. |

Duly noted..and probably a really good suggestion, because at least then they've been forewarned! :) |
if it's that big of a deal buy all weather floor mats.. damn
|
That's why I got floor mats.
I can be pretty anal about my cars, but dirty shoes don't push my buttons. I'd rather have to clean floormats than have someone with size 13's kicking the rocker panels trying to clean his combat boots. |

If you drive c for c car and keep it trashy looking inside and outside, I won't be careful getting in and out but, if I see you keep your ride clean in or out, I will be cautious on my way in and out just like it was my own.
Just some common courtesy and common sense. Ian B |

i hate all weather mats because they turn white/sand color when dirt hits it.
even worse is salt. i dont mind it in my dd's but not for my G or Z. berber mats FTW! :D |
Pull out the carpet and clean it later, simple as that. I wouldn't toss a friendship over a dirty little carpet that can be cleaned in minutes. Maybe if you had said something, he might be more mindful next time.
