I paid for the hour of labour, which was $80, but also people love my face so I get things for cheap :)

Exhaust was done perfectly and as mentioned, this particular one has done 370's but i'll agree, not all shops are created equal

Yeah, they vary from place to place. The hourly rate at the Midas here was like $110 an hour-- more than the dealer.

Not jet engines, but rocket engines. :icon17:
I should be more clear. It took 6-7 weeks for them to find time to do the intakes inexpensively, and return the car before I left work.

I just got a quote of $800 and up. I'm guessing they broke it down like this:

Mounting wheels +tires $100
H&R Springs $200
Rear Camber $100
Sway bars $100
Akebono BBK $200
Exhaust $100/4
Fog light $100/4
GTR button $100/4
HPS silicon tubes $100/4

Reasonable? I was also thinking of bucket sets and illuminated kick plates but I'll hold off that for now, I didn't even bother asking for a quote.

Just do it yourself brother... not hard for any of that

TheGreatOne 02-17-2012 10:06 AM

So now you added the brake's into the equation

Honestly, I'd really do the start button and MAF tubes yourself, even if not mechically inclined, these are easy. GTR start button took me 10-15 minutes, it was that fast.

Doing that you can knock off some of the cost

This garage, do they mostly work on modified cars or no?

At the very least, do the GT-R button. Even I did it and have no experience whatsoever [and was scared to hurt my car] but it was so easy. Screwdriver and 30 mins is all you need. (30 minutes because for someone reading instructions and being overly careful... so no more comments about it taking 30 mins )

edit: Nobody is going to be as careful as you will be with your car

Hi guys, this place is known for working on modded cars, my brother takes his Genesis there all the time too (maybe I'll get a little discount too if my brother comes with me) but I don't have any personal experience with them.

I'm just worried about messing up the wiring or not connecting the MAF tube correctly (messing up the englne?). I tried to install a lip spoiler on my brothers Genesis with the double sided M3 tape that came with it, and it took him, my dad and I to do it and we still misaligned it. He ended up getting the guys at this body shop to remove it and do it again. lol So I guess you can see where the lack of confidence came from.

I know awesome talented meticulous shops that are $50-65 and hour covering a wide range of depth. I know stoneage disesl truck shops who charge $110 an hour and their talent is quite limited. then there is everything in the middle.

some can charge a lower rate and milk the clock. Talent and care for your baby come first. Work it into the conversation that you are well networked in the enthusiast community and "heard" they do good work..... they will know you can influence future business or lack thereof...

good luck

I just saw this, 6-7 weeks before they found cheap time to do them. They work down the block so it is easy to fit me in when that moment arrives.
