So i was minding my own driving straight down the road and some girl in a ford focus decided to make a left across my lane and needless to say i didn't have enough time to stop and i rammed her pretty good. her and the police agreed that I had the right away and it was 100 percent her fault. I need a new bumper, hood, headlight, side panel, and washer fluid reservoir. the attached picture doesnt do the damage justice, but just wanted to vent and share with everyone. i also attached a photo of her ride...imo she got more damage than mine.

shadoquad 04-14-2011 05:25 PM

That suxxxxxx, man! Glad everyone's alright.

daisuke149 04-14-2011 05:27 PM

sucks for you man..

although is she cute..

mtaxelson 04-14-2011 05:37 PM

since she is covering the costs...im going to take it to nissan to replace all the damaged parts...dont care if its twice as expensive as a local garage! im not paying!

and yeah she was kinda good looking...she was crying so it was hard to yell and express my true feelings!

even if a nissan dealership is more expensive doesnt mean their repairs are better.

If you know of a realllly good body shop somewhere may as well take it there if you know the quality ahead of time.

Also, tell her i said hi!

i figured the nissan dealership would be able to fix it and match the colors better...but thanks for the heads up ill keep that in mind.

370zFORme!! 04-14-2011 05:50 PM

You shoulda informed her that since she raped you car, you reserve the right to well... you get my drift.

Lemers 04-14-2011 05:57 PM

She's cute and it wasn't that muct damage maybe you could work out an arrangement.

I can guarantee you that a highly rated top notch body shop in your area can do a better job than any dealership body shop save a few rare exceptions. Price is not the best indication of performance in this type of industry in many cases.

Glad you are alright though, looks like the Z faired better than the Focus!

spearfish25 04-14-2011 06:25 PM

Nissan dealers won't make those repairs. They'll send the car to their affiliate body shop. No guarantee that shop will be any good. Better to go to a reputable shop of your choosing (or recommended to you).

zmyride 04-14-2011 06:28 PM

Maybe she was blinded by your Z beauty.

Highway 04-14-2011 06:30 PM

Son of beetch man. It least it's not too bad.

I've said some bad things before. But come on man.:shakes head:

sonic370 04-14-2011 07:06 PM

sorry to hear about that. nissan body shop doesn't guarantee it will be fixed right though. had my minor fender bender fixed there. they had to paint the front end twice before getting it right. just make sure you get a lifetime guarantee on all body repairs.

Waiz 04-14-2011 07:08 PM

I think you know what needs to be done!

Her crash = you get to smash!

birdmanx1 04-14-2011 07:25 PM

Glad everyone was alright mtaxelson. With the weather getting better, more and more forum members's Zs are becoming the victims of other drivers' poor driving skills on the streets; other crashes involving the VDC OFF button (B1ades ;)) Be safe y'all!

Red__Zed 04-14-2011 09:09 PM

bummer man.

OldGuy 04-14-2011 09:45 PM

These kind of incidents raise the question of whether even perfect repair will make you whole. Now, at trade-in or sale, you have to admit that your car was in a wreck. As I see it, that will make it's value less than the competitor's car which was never damaged and repaired. Everything else being equal, his will command more money. Don't know if there are cases and precedents on that issue in your jurisdiction but it might be worth the cost of a consultation with an attorney before you sign any release or settlement agreement with her insurance company.

mtaxelson 04-14-2011 10:45 PM

i agree now that my car will never be "whole" again...but i dont plan or selling it or trading it in EVER! haha but yes i agree now it will be a dark spot on my carfax records for the car, but i gotta roll with the punches and just get it fixed.

and thanks for all the advice from everyone.

Lemers 04-14-2011 10:48 PM

Claim dimished value when dealing with her insurance

DIGItonium 04-14-2011 11:45 PM

Sorry to hear you went though the same unfortunate accident like mine. The shop replaced the passenger fender, headlight, bumper, hood, airbox, and internal support brackets. Insurance also covered for part of my modded headlights and clear bra. After a couple of weeks my car looks brand new with no frame damage!

Hang in there and hope all goes well. I'm very paranoid when I see cars inching forward as I am passing them... it's like they'll dart out without noticing or drive too close to my side.

jaedub 04-15-2011 12:02 AM

Damn bro this really sucks :shakes head: Luckly it was a minor damage, thank god no damages to the engine.....and yourself ;) Hopefully repair goes smooth and nicely. Get your baby fixed and post her up again. GL with everything!!

Btw....I had to laugh at "I rammed her pretty good" haha! :inoutroflpuke:

Except that your car is nice and hers is a POS.

That sucks, man. I have had people do dumb crap myself. Such as running into my car, parked at a gas pump while fueling, that I spent over a year having built and was taking on its first roadtrip.

At least she didn't try to weasel out of it. Now just make sure her insurance company pays like they should.

Hambone1 04-15-2011 08:15 AM

When it comes to diminished value, there are a few companies online that you can contract out (like $50-100) to inspect your car and file a report with the insurance company. I did this with my last Audi and wound up saving me around $4k when it came time to sell

ducky 04-15-2011 08:28 AM

I'll say take the car to a reputable local shop for repair instead of paying twice as much at stealership..with the extra cash u can call up the girl that hit ur Z and take her out to dinner (^.^)

UNKNOWN_370 04-15-2011 09:28 AM

Glad ur ok... but what is the deal????? This forum has more accident threads than any other forum I ever been on... this is really sad.

My advice to future and current owners. Buy the sport package. First mods, Steel braided brake lines, heat disspating rotors, and hard clinchin ultra high performance brake pads. No exhaust. No intake for first mods. This should be a Z buyers main goal on purchase.

Just got the estimate today. I attached the work that will be done. The initial cost is just over $3,000. It most likely will go up after he pulls the bumper off and sees the damage to the radiator supports.

OMGWTFBBQ 04-15-2011 12:04 PM

:pics: of girl?

:ugh2:

Just kidding. Glad to see you're alright. Cars can be fixed easy.

Could this be the opportunity to get custom bumper + custom lights work?

This is the opportunity to not have my front license plate installed by drilling two holes in my fresh bumper (being from NJ)... i plan on either installing Stillens kit or not putting the front on at all.
