Nissan Details 2011 Racer Support Program

Quote:

FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Nissan's 2011 Racer Support Parts Program is offering benefits to drivers competing in cars made by the automaker.

Any driver competing in either a Nissan or Infiniti vehicle is eligible for what Nissan deems "contingency award payouts." Series that qualify for these perks are the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Club Racing, World Challenge, Grand-Am Continental Tire Challenge, NASA, Lucas Oil Off-Road Series, Traxxas TORC Series, and the Formula Drift Championship.

Once registered with Nissan Motorsports, drivers have 30 days after an event concludes to notify Nissan and be eligible for contingency payments of anywhere from $250 for a 1st-place finish in Formula Drift to $5,000 for a World Challenge or Grand-Am Continental Tire Challenge Driver Championship. Another $2,000 is also awarded for winning a SCCA National Championship while driving a Sentra, 350Z or 370Z.

Registering for the program qualifies for the Racer Support Parts Program as well, which provides discounts on Nismo and OEM parts. All that's required for the savings is the placement of Nissan and Nismo logos on the race car or truck. A list of the discounted parts available can be found here.

For those looking to get started racing a Nissan product, the company is now offering a pre-modified 370Z by Nismo that comes equipped with a full FIA-certified roll cage and tuned engine and is eligible for the World GTS class and Grand-Am Continental Challenge GS class. Nissan calls this one the "370Z Customer Purchase Race Car."

Inside Line says: A cool incentive program that should definitely attract some racers to Nissan. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
Hopefully this encourages more 370Z Racing Teams.

neat - thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a way for Nissan to figure out which warranties they should cancel...

I think what is more interesting is what is in the special version made for racing - tuned engine. Does it come with the interior, and will they sell as a road car vs race car. Be interested on what the price is as well.

I bet it's at least $75k.

Don't be ridiculous. Nissan does not possess that technology.

They mention the Sentra but not the GT-R?

speedworks 04-14-2011 06:58 PM

The GT-R doesn't fit in any SCCA class. As for 75k, I doubt it, and again it depends what was done to it. If it is just engine tuning and a cage, and maybe no interior, 50k max.

^^^ Ah, I see.

Be interesting to see how much more a "race tuned" 370Z puts down. I'm guessing the same as a Nismo or better if they toss the cats, which they could for a "track only" car.

I'm curious what they mean by "tuned engine". Hopefully that translates to parts we can buy.
