Traded in my nismo on a 08 jeep srt8 with 52k on it. They gave me 33500 for my Niz, a 2000 lincoln ls, and 2003 ford focus. OTD price on the jeep was 29500. Hated to see the Niz go but had to, got a baby on the way and due in november. Love the jeep tho, from a stand still its extremely fast. I loved my Z and this forum and will still pop in now and then Im sure. Heres some pics of my new whip!

GZ3 04-13-2011 01:45 PM

good luck in the future!

XwChriswX 04-13-2011 01:52 PM

Sorry to see it go, did you keep any parts from it by chance???

i did not, all i have left are nismo springs, GTM res. test pipes, stock intakes, JWT oil pan spacer, stock header manifolds, stock cats

Hey Johnny, congrats on having a baby this November ... very exciting. You traded a hot ride for another one just larger. It'll be good to see you pop on the forum. I bet your arguments to the lady were to the tune that the jeep has got a lot of room for the baby stuff, is practical in the snow. You forgot the 425HP part didn't you  I hope to bump into you whenever I'm down in sweet ol' Bloomington or by the Oliver winery. :tiphat:

NICE ride BTW.

^lol he's already hitting on your future daughter! :icon18:

Nice looking Jeep - I see you already have the radar detector hooked up :) Congratulations on the baby and new vehicle.

I would of kept the nismo and just bought a cheap 4 door beater but good luck to you anyways.

toxik 04-13-2011 02:29 PM

i love the SRT8, honestly if you had to trade in the Z for an SUV... that's the only way to go.

You would put a baby in a cheap beater without any of the modern safety features, with the additional risk of the car breaking down in the extreme heat or cold as well? Just so you get to drive a sports car?

Thank you. I traded in 2 beaters. I wanted something nice, safe, comfy for my new baby. But also something fun for myself. Trust me I didn't want to get rid of the nismo but if I had to trade it in on an suv this is the one I would want. Thanks for all the support guys

Rooskey 04-13-2011 09:57 PM

Whats the gas milage like on the SRT-8? Those are nice! My friend had one and loved it. He did have issue's with the transfercase though. Keep an eye on it if yours is AWD.

Smart move for sure!

FromG2Z 04-13-2011 10:50 PM

Congrats.... but just to clarify, you traded in 3 vehicles for a used SRT8? Nismo, lincoln, and Focus?

Just my 2 cents, but couldn't you have traded in the lincoln and focus and ponied up a little cash to get a decent, safe, and reliable used SUV while still keeping your Nismo?
Wife and I have a 2009 odyssey for her, 2002 civic for me, and the Z for me as well :) I did the opposite, when kid was born, I bought the Z instead of selling it :)

djpathfinder 04-13-2011 10:57 PM

Parenthood is a life changer, but well worth it. Isn't it crazy that you traded for something with 3 extra seats, but about 4 tenths faster to 60? There's always room for another Z later in life. Good luck with everything.

Highway 04-14-2011 11:13 AM

Damn...lost another local guy.

Congrats on the Jeep. Those things are just beasts.

just to clarify my wife drives a 06 escalade. weve had four cars between the 2 of us for awhile and wanted to get it down to 2. this was what worked for us. I can now enjoy my daily drive and not think about my z sitting in the garage all day. and when the kid comes, it was just gonna sit in that garage a whole lot more. and just so everyone knows im loving this jeep, no its not as fun to drive as the nismo. but its an absolute beast and im loving driving it. a whole other type of animal than the nismo. the torque off the line is ridiculous

No problem man... yeah, to each his own I guess. I'm ok with having the Z sit in the garage on days I take the kid to daycare and pick him up. On days that the wifey does it (we take turns, obviously), then I drive the Z. Also, when kid goes to bed or is busy at school or with wife or gramma or whoever, I take that time to drive the Z. True, the Z doesn't get daily use out of me for sure... is the Z practical? no.... but I'm ok with that because it's a "toy" for me, and just that.

But again, to each his own. I don't have any issue for what you did... do what makes you happy. And from the sounds of it, you are... which I am glad. I don't mean any disrespect. I am just saying, for me, I wouldn't have traded it in...

UNKNOWN_370 04-14-2011 05:10 PM

Congrats...not trying to be a douche or anything. But I woulda kept the Z and leased a 2.5 altima for 0 down and 199 a month or something in that nature till I was able to buy another vehicle of my choice. The residual is really high on altimas and on year end they practically give them away on lease... also they average around 28mpg combined.
An SRT8 jeep gets like 12city 17highway. And are highly known for transmission and electrical failures. They have a very low reliability rating. Its a extremely risky buy and a money pit. But anyway... I hope that is not your experience and I do wish you well. Good luck and may your baby be blessed in this life.

boo hiss

I thought about this

and I just couldn't do it.

I see the guys in my neighborhood with the family hauler type vehicle...

but I always figure if it were me I'd have my own vehicle.

selfish I guess

That's why you keep the Z and ALSO get a family hauler :tiphat:

zmyride 04-14-2011 06:31 PM

Sorry but from many people I know who used to own a Jeep, it won't last you more than 50K miles or 2-3 years max.

BalanBro 04-14-2011 06:43 PM

Man, so much hate. I think it's a sweet truck, and would love to own one myself. Good luck and enjoy it!

ZeeingAround 04-14-2011 09:49 PM

The only way i would own that jeep would be under factory warranty. The day it is up, trade in time. If you are getting on the gas a lot, you won't even be getting 12 mi/gal.
You made the right move consolidating before the baby comes.

Lemers 04-14-2011 09:59 PM

Couldn't stretch your Z into a maxima?

USINC97 04-15-2011 05:08 AM

Congrats on the new baby. We know what it is like to give up things to make room for the family.
