First, call me crazy but I don't think it looks bad!

Second, I wouldn't have dropped the car off. They can order and paint a new bumper and then it takes 15min to install when it comes in. I hate leaving my Z in a shop, especially for no reason.

Third, you can mask that area off and paint it a flat black. It'll look fine.

I thought the same thing "it looks....alright, kind of cool...wait WTF...NO!" I don't want to compare this to an exotic but people appreciate this car, its unique...if you needed work on your Ferrari that got wrecked, you would want it fixed just right so it looked like when you first picked it from the show room that first day...right? AND...the first person who see's that car and really appreciates its history is going to see the work and immediately know that Nissan did not produce cars in 2010 with this specific paint scheme...fake, damaged, kit, etc.

The other thing that hit me was service was not due as a customer, it needs to be done right in every way unless asked. I almost went with the Stillen front end but backed out...I want classic...original...the way it was, that is why I pay for insurance.

Thank you!

Hmmmm... I'm trying to think it looks good.
Naaah!

EazyD 04-06-2011 09:24 AM

Guys, if they just paint over it with matte black, and he gets a rock chip, it could make a really ugly white paint chipping

kz80 04-06-2011 09:24 AM

Well, it's looking good to me.

USMCASA 04-06-2011 09:26 AM

if it were me, i'd refuse to pick up the car until they made it right... the body shop can/will fix it including covering your rental for the duration.

So we just got our car back on Monday, everything looked great. They replaced the bumper and found the proper paint code. The bumper is actually grey from the factory, the center has a black paint code, kind of interesting. I would post some pics but there isn't anything special now, just looks like the day we bought it.

That's wassup. When I saw the front section color matched, I was actually shocked. It's not that I didn't like it, it was just something really wrong with it. glad you got it squared away. Oh yeah........props to your wife.

So after all that, the center is actually painted? Bumpers don't come primered from the factory, they come in bare black plastic.

So...either the shop blew smoke up your a$$ and just fixed the original bumper by painting the center and made up a story

or it really was painted, in which case... I still don't see the point in ordering a new bumper.

Oh, and I hope you didn't pay your deductible.

No, actually the bumper does come primer. The shop sprayed it with no masking, all white. Because the center part was suppose to be black, the white paint needed to be removed or a new bumper ordered. And so t was ordered, the new bumper came, under the assumption that it was going to be black. (that was another thing that chapped my ***! These guys should have known the second time that the bumper was going to be grey) It came grey, the manager did some research and found the paint codes and schematics from Nissan for the center section....BLACK PAINT! They finally painted correctly...two months later!

It's just laziness, the shop did a great job but the attention to detail was just ****.
