Oil Assistance Needed - Couldn't Find In Search Bar - Sorry!

Again, I searched for oil change, oil questions, etc. and couldn't find any, so I thought I'd start one here.

So, I'm at 17K miles on my 09' 370Z and the maintenance oil light just went on. I've never changed the oil, since I bought mine used. My friend told me I had to take it to the dealer and pay the $84.95 they want to charge for Ester Oil. However, a long time mechanic said he'd charge $25-$30 and I could put 5 W20 in it if I wanted to as long as it's before the first 30K miles.

Since you all are much more knowledgeable than I, what say you?

I'm telling you, I was typing all kinds of things that had oil in it. Tried searching by thread, by post, advanced - dunno. Nothing populated.

Go Figure!

Any who, thanks for the find and thank you 370Z Project as well!

Number one rule when purchasing a used vehicle: Change/flush all fluids. Take no one's word that they've done so, including a dealer's.

Not to mention inspect all filters/belts/tires... This is the one time you're allowed to be overly anal.
