Can you believe this

I know this thread doesn't belong here but its a slow night. so flame on...

yes the factory 19' RAYS look damn good imho and we all know how loud the bridgestone tires are but my 09 just turned over 20,000. i know i daily drive
but the dang tires still have over half the tread left. i bet i get another 6 or 7
thousand out of them. i don't know if thats good or bad news.

i know a lot will say its all BS but the only thing iv'e done is rotate from side to side. and the tread wears very even...

frost 03-25-2011 08:09 PM

I have almost 30k miles, and the tires look AWESOME. They don't hook up as well anymore, so I will get loopy on tight turns, but plenty of tread.

shadow2k 03-25-2011 08:17 PM

Same here, I'm at 20k as well. I keep checking the tires every couple of weeks, because I thought these were rated at around 20k. They don't look like they'll need replacing anytime soon.

I think many of us who don't peel out all the time are probably in the same boat. I drive fast, but I rarely ever break the tires free.

flashburn 03-25-2011 08:20 PM

It also varies based on the type of roads you drive on. Smoother the roads, the more mileage you'll get out of your tires.

PapoZalsa 03-25-2011 08:21 PM

Is just the type of driving you do, aggresive or non-aggresive, spirit driving.

sonic370 03-25-2011 09:03 PM

Yeah that makes sense. I do have fun with my car but very seldom
break the tires loose

brado 03-25-2011 09:10 PM

i only got 18500 out of mine. all of my driving is on the interstate though. i dont know if its the same on cars but i know when i ride my cbr on the interstate for a while after i get off the bike and rub my hand across the tire rubber will be on my hand.

KillerBee370 03-25-2011 09:21 PM

I have 150,000 miles and mine still look like this...

It's because you all drive like girls.

Accelerator is on the right. Try pushing it all the way to the floor sometimes.

JB1 03-25-2011 09:34 PM

200 miles on mine and they're gone!

Rotate? Isn't it directional?

unmount and mount it on other rear wheel. But doesnt 19 OEM tires have inside and outside sidewall?

I don't think it does, but it's kind of pointless. They should be wearing the same amount technically.

cossie1600 03-26-2011 12:25 AM

I got rid of my tires at 800 miles, don't have to deal with the crap050 again

I thought inner should be wearing more than outside b/c of negative camber

Pushing_Tin 03-26-2011 03:28 AM

My rears were almost bald at 11k.

:icon17: This is what I was thinking. I'll be thrilled if I get over 10k from mine.

These were my stockers after 8k miles.

If youre getting 20k out of them you should look into a passat. ;)

Stock camber on our cars is pretty mild. They will wear almost even.

They are asymmetrical, not directional. Rotating from side to side doesn't do anything unless you have a bad alignment.

OP isn't crazy. If you do a lot of highway miles, tires last longer. I drive ~95% of my miles on the highway. No stops + no starts + no turns = 27,000 miles before I had to replace my Bridgestones.

BTW....I have about 1,500 miles on my new Hankook K12 Evos and as others have mentioned, they are significantly quieter than the stocks. Nobody has mentioned this before, but they throw about 1/10 the number of rocks into the wheel wells, which is awesome since that damn noise was one of my pet peeves.

Pushing_Tin 03-26-2011 09:08 PM

Here is a shot of mine right before I replaced them at 11k.

1slow370 03-26-2011 11:56 PM

my fronts looked like RCZ's rear's at 9000.

brado 03-27-2011 08:16 AM

my fronts arent wearing much at all for some reason. they still have 6/32 with 20000 miles.

kenchan 03-27-2011 11:59 AM

When I looked at my tires while swapping out the wheels they were 1/2 done at 4k miles.
I don't expect more than 8-10k miles from the stock set.

370zproject 03-30-2011 02:21 PM

you went to the track alot eh?

no, just spirited driving here and there on street. i dont really speed. never gotten a ticket in my hobby cars. :)

LunaZ 03-30-2011 08:09 PM

I'm at 14K on my tires.
I might make it to 16K. Might.

so you would recommend the hankook as a good
all around good quiet tire. How's the ride meaning
Smooth

LunaZ 03-30-2011 09:01 PM

I don't know about the 'Kooks, but I'd definitely stay away from the Pirellis.

you don't have to unmount the wheels just swap each
around. right to left left to right. most will say it's a
waste of time but IMHO it helps if your trying to get
the most from your tires

I thought our tyres were directional?

They're not, there only is an "inside" and "outside" sidewall. So that's why you can swap wheels left to right and right to left.

kenchan 03-30-2011 10:52 PM

asymetrical
