1/8 mile drag strip

does anybody know what this car ran in the 1/8 mile? the drag strip is 5 minutes from my house and i was wondering if i could outrun my buddies audi s4. he ran a 8.6 in the eighth. i have invidia exhaust and cnt test pipes...what do u think my car would run?

You'll be close, I would say 8.8 to 8.7 is about stock...
If you mod (NA) and let JNAUT drive you could do 7.9...

i was up there last weekend and i seen a camaro ss run a 8.7 and a srt8 challenger run a 8.6. i work with 2 guys that have these cars. i hope my car runs better so i can rub it in their face haha. those cars were also modded though.

My best 1/8 mile time (which was also my best 1/4 mile run) was 8.388 s with my 7AT. It's definitely possible. Do you have a 7AT or a 6MT?

brado 03-23-2011 08:48 PM

6mt. is your car stock?

100% stock including tires. I had what I guess would be the perfect run. Weather and launch were both perfect, leading to an amazing run. My worst 1/8 mile times that day were 8.8xx. It will be more difficult in the 6MT, but it's still possible.

Your run was about as good as it gets. Perfect weather + track prep.

The 6MT will be notably slower. A good launch is pretty much what it comes down to in the eighth mile. There isn't time to overcome a less-than-stellar launch.

different elevations matter too right? im in the mountains.

m4a1mustang 03-23-2011 09:08 PM

Ah the NRV! Nice. I used to live out in Radford.

I think the elevation there is right around 2,000 feet so you're probably looking at a high 8 second pass if you can hook up.

add aprox .1 sec for every 1000 ft

It actually can be a good bit worse than that. You could take a 13.0 car at sea level and run 14.5 somewhere in Colorado.

Good thing we're out here on the east coast where the elevation is relatively low.

I believe in theory it's a sliding scale that starts at .12 sec at sea level to 1000. At tleast that's what the online calculators add when you bump it by a 1000 ft.

Here's an example.... Calculate ET with HP Correction for 1/8th ET- Wallace Racing

Edit: the 1/4 mile calcualter adds closer to .16, I was looking at 1/8 mile times

brado 03-24-2011 03:33 PM

i guess we will see tomorrow...i going to run it with just my invidia exhaust. im putting the cnt test pipes on sat then i will see how much difference it makes if any.

i dont know if this is bad or not for our car but it was about 38 degrees outside and i had a full tank of gas and my buddy was riding with me and i ran a 9.4. the car wouldnt hook up at all.

m4a1mustang 03-25-2011 09:22 PM

What were your 60' times? And your trap speed? The summer tires aren't going to have any grip at those temperatures until you can get them warmed up after a number of passes. 9.4 is pretty slow for the 370 but given the circumstances it probably was all due to your lack of traction.

yeah it definately had to do with the traction and added weight. my 60 ft was like 2.8 sec lol. i put it away after about three runs, i was making the car look bad! haha maybe next week the temp will be up in the 70's or 80's again. weather here has been up and down lately. my speed was about 78 mph

brado 03-25-2011 09:59 PM

i think every 100lbs adds a tenth to your time doesnt it?

m4a1mustang 03-25-2011 10:03 PM

Yeah, if you ran 2.8 60's you should just ignore those runs all together.

Yeah, every 100lbs adds at least a tenth to your 1/4 time.

brado 03-25-2011 10:18 PM

ok haha thats what i was thinking. ill wait till it gets warm to see what itll run.
