File this under creepy but cool

So i'm on my way home from the store today and i hear this car honk. You know we all hear them and look around and wonder what the hell is your problem...

So i play it cool and head on home but this guy in his truck continues to follow me to my house. So i'm thinking ok i guess its on for some reason.

so i pull into my garage looking for the nearest tire iron when this guy rolls down his window and says can i ask you a question. i go sure all the time thinking hes
going to ask me if i know how to drive or something. so anyway he says what color is your car called,i just love that color. iv'e got a 64 chevy i would love to paint it this summer. So anyway i tell him MB. Sorry to ramble but this guy followed me all the way across town just to find that out.

flashburn 03-17-2011 08:05 PM

Haha, man, I think I would of headed inside so quickly to grab my piece, that I wouldn't even give him a chance to ask.

frost 03-17-2011 08:19 PM

After having a similar experience, if anyone is behind me when I'm pulling up to my house, I just keep going.

NEVER stop at your house. Hell, if you think you're being tailed (3 consecutive right turns should confirm it) don't even go to your neighborhood.

I like this idea a lot better than my initial instincts. I'm going to stick with this from now on.

Jeffblue 03-17-2011 08:31 PM

yea dude. he probably was just playing it cool. now he knows where you live and he's going to come back and eat you and your family.

seriously though. if they are following you and you are sure. call the cops. don't go anywhere near your neighborhood.

Honestly, you never know if it's just some criminal casing your place. Anyone can strike up a friendly conversation to get close for some recon.

True, and the guy probably had a decent amount of time to think up a question to ask him. Granted the fact that this guy was honking at him before he got home probably means this isn't the case, but you never know.

m4a1mustang 03-17-2011 08:43 PM

I agree, this was probably harmless, but you definitely have to be a lot more careful these days.

Lemers 03-17-2011 08:47 PM

If you think a truck is following your Z, just out run him.

I did that yesterday. I flipped a guy the bird for blocking two lanes on an exit ramp. Then he followed me in his big pickup. I lost that tail in two turns. If he had a quicker ride, I'd have gone straight to the nearest police station.

I used to flip people off all the time until I started to realize that everyone in VA carries a gun. :bowrofl:

Jeffblue 03-17-2011 09:02 PM

i dont usually flip peopel off. i just usually pass them at WOT to show them they are a dickface.

kenchan 03-17-2011 09:44 PM

I just pull out my video camera and start recording. :D

See ya on youtube.

Cyberium 03-17-2011 09:48 PM

Fact is with your license plate number, anyone can get your information including your address. They just need to make up a story such as they saw your vehicle involved in a hit and run or some BS.

Just saying...

See, I never think to record or take pics when $hit goes down. I've missed out on alot of good stuff.

I love when people screw up and then act as if it was your fault. I have a good story for this. But I'll save it. Just say I'm still on probabtion for it. It would of been worse if it wasn't for the three witnesses on my side.:icon17:

Yeah, one time I was in New Orleans on Bourbon Street and these two attractive young women ran to each other from opposite ends of the block and kissed each other in an urgent but gentle manner. It was over before I realized I had video on my smartphone. To document their love of course.

Wait, what was this thread about? :icon14:;):icon17:

chuckd05 03-17-2011 11:19 PM

Maybe he just liked the color of his car ? And wanted to know ? Guilty until proven innocent I guess...

cossie1600 03-17-2011 11:32 PM

Funny topic. I was driving 70mph minding my own business, this moron in an old Pontiac came from the right lane to cut me off without blinker. I had to swerve to the fast lane to avoid him as he nearly tagged my front bumper. I got around him and just gave him the bird for the stupid move. It turned out he had a little buddy in front of him in an older Toyota pick-up (4 cylinder). The guy in the truck got in front of me and tried to brake check me. I got pissed off and just punched it to get around him. He decided to try outdrag me in his 4 cylinder pick up. Well he and his buddy under-estimated the 50mpg Prius as I easily got around the moron. After I got back in front of him, I just had to give him the fist stroke.....

ChrisSlicks 03-17-2011 11:35 PM

Serial killer ...

It's a dangerous state to drive recklessly in, and yet everyone still does it.

ImportConvert 03-18-2011 05:27 AM

On my way home from having my Z tinted, some Ford Ranger was following me. I just dropped it into 5th and gave it a few seconds of throttle before realizing what I was doing would probably get me shot before I got to jail, and just put it back in 6th. I never saw the Ranger again, lol.

I wouldn't go home if someone were following me/watching.

I have spoken to people I don't know about their car before. Not usually about color, but just in general. I have followed people into parkinglots before after a friendly run. Best was a 911 4S The chic gave me a ride in it, and took a ride in my F-body. Very cool!

As far as creepy, I love watching girls eat. Their tongues dart out and make contact with the food before anything else. It makes me laugh for some unknown reason. Thank you for allowing me to share that.

True, it could have been harmless, but anyone with half a brain would figure "Hey, I like that color... let me go to Nissan's website and see what it is."

Z06: where downshifting into 5th actually gives you enough power to pull away really fast.

Did he happen to look like this? (Click on attachment)

ive done it to a few people in my neighborhood when i see the same car going around more than twice. i just pull out my flip and point. they look at you like WTF are you doing? :icon17:

KanataZ 03-18-2011 11:45 AM

I had a similar experience two summers ago. A guy in his 60s driving an '04 Monte Carlo SS, complete with the wife in the passenger seat, followed me to my driveway. I assumed he was "unhappy" that I had (legally) passed him earlier on the main street but he just wanted to ask about the colour of my car (majestic blue).

The odd thing is, I was driving my nine year old '01 Maxima AE! Though to be fair, it was freshly washed :icon17:. The car still looks pretty good, but Nissan's thin paint is no match for 9 Canadian winters - and yes the paint was really bad back then too.

It was very, very odd. I still have no idea what kind of person would follow someone to their house to ask about their car...other than a serial killer or some other sort of freak.

Slade 03-18-2011 04:19 PM

I had a similar experience like the topic creator, but not at my house. This guy followed me into a Wal-Mart parking lot (at night btw), waited until I got out of the car to ask me if the blue was a factory color.

This may have been the same guy that followed the TC LOL. Was it an older guy in a huge Chevy truck?
