They did refresh the looks a little bit with the 2012 GT-R. I haven't ever driven one. What's so bad about the driving experience. Is it just because its an auto or are there other this too?

I also heard going to do sub 3 second o-60 runs and be faster the the ZR1 through the quarter. Nissan FTMFW.

There are only two issues I have with the GT-R -- it has a back seat and auto trans.

my biggest thing is that it looks rather average imo

i honestly think the 370z looks more like the 90k car....purely from exterior appearances

Auto-manual. Very different from a regular automatic gearbox. But yes a true manual option for the purists would be a nice feature but tough for them to justify in such a low volume vehicle.

Looks are kind of a subjective thing. IMO the GT-R does look like a $90k supercar from the outside, but I think the Z does too.

I like that it has back seats, it adds a DD aspect to it. This Is good because if/when I get one I will DD it. It's a supercar, DD, and track beast all wrapped into one. The auto transmission is amazing and was required for the car to be as quick as it is. As much as it may hurt manual enthusiasts, autos are the performance transmissions of the future.

The 2012 GT-R has been tested with a 0-60 time of 2.88 s and lapped the nurburgring in 7 mins 24.22 sec, which is one of the fastest times for a production car and was In semi-wet conditions. This time is only 0.22 s behind the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and is also 2.2 s quicker than the ZR1.

Electronic nannies, the auto, and it just weighs SO MUCH. I know the electronics help out with getting around a track, but I also want to have fun driving the car.

The GT-R looks awesome. I'm playin a scratch off tonight. Lol. As far as the Z Looking like a 90k car??? That's utterly laughable. Lol. As hot and kool as the 370z is, as sexxxy as the 370z is. There's nothing even 90k about it in the looks dept. Maybe 40k at base. Performance I will say it feels like a 60k car, not looks. Things that kill the Z from looking more expensive is the sharkface grille, low end looking paint and the base wheels don't help either. Now hook up a bodykit, custom paint and make the sport package wheels the base wheels then maybe it would look like a 60k car? Never 90k.

Can't some or all of the nannies be turned off? I agree with you on the weight Issue. The GT-R needs to go on a serious diet. If it loses like 200-400 lbs, I think it might perform a lot better than it already is.

Yeah on second thought, I will have to agree that the Z does not look like a $90k car. It would give it a $60k at best

40k at best? some of the 370s cost more than that lol...

The driving feel is disconnected as the car is so fast and so easy to drive, you lose perspective. The best way I can describe it is through an anecdote...

While getting off one freeway onto another, I began accelerating a little bit. The off-ramp/on-ramp had a large right bank with a pretty drastic curve. The funny part is that I wasn't watching the speedo until I happen to look down mid-curve. Now, I wasn't pushing the car by any means (which is why it didn't feel fast at all), but my speed was considerably higher than any other "stock" car could take this curve in without approaching some handling limits. Basically, it didn't feel "fast.

That's the simplest explanation I can think of for the driving feel of the GT-R. This little story took place in a 2010 R35. The 2012 has completely revised suspension, so I would expect the same result or better in the same situation.

Thanks, that made a lot of sense. I've heard rumors that the 2012 is coming with a temporary RWD mode. Would that help with the connected feeling? I would think it would kind of be more like an auto Z (which I have).

thezmonster 03-17-2011 12:52 PM

We had two at my work nice looking GTR makes me want to trade the z lol :)

Yes, the 2012 has a temporary RWD mode for use in parking lots. (We haven't tested it yet though.) The mode is there to prevent the clunking you get while turning in parking lots at low speeds (the clunking is caused by all three of the differentials binding due to sharp turning radii).

is the gtr not do for a complete styling update though? i mean that body style was released in Q4 2007.

i feel as if the 2013 will be completley diff, which excites me seeing as i dont like the current styling
