Well over like 90% of the beamers are debadged so you HAVE to look at the exhaust to know the difference.

which are most beamers above the 320, according to most people it is for streetracing so the opponent is thinking "lol a 320" while its actually a 335 or whatever they make.

A 'beamer/beemer' is a BMW bike (or any BMW vehicle with less than 4 wheels); a 'bimmer' is a BMW car. But it's all pronounced the same way

Vegitto-kun 03-06-2011 03:57 PM

lol there is an actual difference between the words?

the things you learn.

It's okay. This kind of news is slow to get to people who live in a "village". :icon17:

i get the porsche crap all the time, guess most of those people are blind and can't read the hamburgers on the nose and ***...

mick 03-06-2011 06:08 PM

haha. i hope that the same doesn't happen to the porsche owners.
imagine you spent the big bucks to get a porsche to have some person come up and compliment on how nice your nissan looks :D

jaedub 03-06-2011 06:19 PM

I get that countless times. But half the people correct themselves. Other half, I correct them or I just dont care. Im sure they know what the car is (knowing its not 350) but they just fail to say the name correctly cuz they're used to 350's

sonic370 03-06-2011 06:30 PM

iv'e gotten that a couple of times but i just let it go... to be honest imo the cars
at the right angle can be hard to tell apart.. just as the c-5 vettes were.
you had to really know your stuff to tell them apart.

:iagree:

I never knew till now either. I just thought people were spelling it different since they all sound the same.

Actually, "bimmer" is pronounced with the sound of a short i, while "beemer" is pronounced with a long e.
"Beamer" is not really a correct spelling of either word.

Yes, I'm bored.

I don't get mad when normal people call it a 350z. I owned one and I thought it was great. I don't like when the service department at the Nissan dealership calls my car a 350z. That makes me worry.

toxik 03-06-2011 08:42 PM

I heard having you car be called a 350 immediately makes you lose 2-3 inches below and therefore requires an immediate correction to make sure they know you're carrying a full footlong down there.

Jeffblue 03-06-2011 08:43 PM

i usually feel like i sound like a **** if i correct someone by saying i have a 370z.

I think you may need to find a new dealership to get your car serviced, one that knows what car they're working on...

i think for a lot of people that don't know anything about the history of the car, the 350z is the car they are most familiar with. So when we say 'Z' to talk about Z cars in general, they say 350z. obviously its wrong, but i think thats what they mean.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I feel like the one place that should get it right is the one working on/fixing it and also the one that sold it to you in the first place.

I had a guy with a 350 ask me where i got my custom headlights from, tell him they're stock, and he just gave me the "he knows better" and i let him be a dumbass

see, that's bad... but not as bad as...today, my friend and I were shooting the **** and he was telling me, how he was talking to some toyota people about cars, and when he said, "My friend owns a 370z Nismo", and a guy driving a supra was like, "oh, so he bored out his 350 motor, and put a nismo decal on it.. what a ricer..." :roflpuke2:

I'm stationed here.

Hoping to get stationed in the states after I go through school for my next job.

I have had a few people say nice 350Z and I don't act like a jerk about it, but it does bother me. I really didn't care for the 350Z's much. There was something about them I just didn't like looks wise, and that was all fixed with the 370Z.

Some people just don't know cars well enough to tell the difference. I guess having black might just make it harder as well?

just remember, if it werent for the success of the "comeback" 350z there would be no 370z.

Gotta respect them. There are a ton of modified 350's out there that could whoop up on 90% of the cars on this forum if not more.

Just correct em. most people like the cars and respect them and thats why they are giving you props.. They dont know its a 370z most of the time. And some people, believe it or not, just know the "general shape" of cars and like em. Ive had many people who say they love my car but then couldnt point out a 350 vs a 370z in a lot.

Right on, this pretty much sums up what most are saying in this thread..

Some older guys mistakened my car for a Porsche.
