Clear bra insurance?

I've been thinking about getting clear bra for my Z, but I'm curious about one thing: if you get in an accident that requires bumper/fender replacement, will the insurance cover clear bra re-application?

For the record, I've been quoted VentureShield for $600 bumper/half-hood/half-fender, and $1,500 for the full hood/fenders. The almost 3x price increase seems a little odd for a bit more plastic.

They'll probably don't do a lot of full hoods and would need to buy a large roll, hence the price jump.

On your insurance, I think can add it as accessories.
Don't know if that would increase your premium though.

My brother has the clear bra on his RX-8 and has had the bumper replaced by insurance and they reapplied the clear bra also. I would still suggest checking up with your rep just to make sure your policy covers it.

I had parts repainted on my FX after someone keyed it, and the 3M was replaced on it as part of the repairs.

I struck a deer head on at 70 MPH and my clear bra prevented my bumper from denting.

I think the only time you wouldn't be able to get it covered is if your car was totaled. They wouldn't give you any additional money for the clear bra you had on it.

Most insurance will cover it. I know USAA does cover for me.

I am an installer and do insurance jobs all of the time. I have yet to see any insurance company not cover it as it is part of the car. I usually bump of the quote a little on the re-install and then give some money back to the owner to help cover the deductable.

You know my last two cars had a clear bra on them, but I'm not doing it anymore. They are a pain in the *** to clean, keep bugs off of, when you wax no matter how careful you are you get some on the line and it's a pain to clean off. That aside there are two other reasons. First one is a quality respray will be the same cost as a clear bra, and two Dr, Colorchip works perfectly for lots of minor chips, the cost for that is $50.

Same for me, when I totaled my Sport Trac they even paid for the brush guard, PIAA lights and my Yakima racks.

^ it's very easy to clean around the edge.

Use a soft toothbrush and brush gently along the edge, the wax will come off.

I tried that, it's a pain in the *** and it scratched my car, it was black so just looking at it would cause scratches fwiw. I also had issues with bug guts in the summer, if they were not cleaned off immediately they would etch the clear bra. The whole ordeal is not worth $600. IF I kept a car for more then 4-5 years where chips were an issue I'd just respray the front for the same price or less as the bra.
