I thought a Hybrid 370Z would be a good idea, after last week, I think NOT.

I drove a 2010 Altima Hybrid as a rental last week. Wow, what a bland car. The car did not get very good mileage (23 mpg mixed) and the engine sounded like a diesel. The CVT was dull and lifeless and overall the car did not impress me with it's smoothness. From 1-10 it's a solid 5. I would NOT pay the premium for an Altima with a Hybrid so I am guessing the Z with a hybrid would be a pass also.

That said, I think it's time for a 400Z or a 430Z or even better a 500Z.

Why would this be locked? I have thought the Hybrid Z that Nissan has proposed would be a good idea, until actually driving a Nissan Altima Hybrid for a week. How many people here have actual experienced driving the Altima Hybrid for longer than a test drive. I was expecting better mileage and a smoother electric car. What I drove was a car with a lot of issues compared to the regular Hertz Altima I usually get.

I don't think the 370Z deserves that type of setup. It would not appeal to many who brought the car for performance.

IF nissan pulls together a hybrid replacement for the Z, I'm sure they will work to make sure it's an enjoyable setup, or they will likely not call it a Z car. The Z name is too valuable for them to damage with a bad hybrid.

The Altima hybrid doesn't need to appeal to enthusiasts, so there's no reason to waste the time and money trying to make it do so.

The Altima is not a Z. They've shared powerplants before (the VQ35).

Pass on a hybrid Z if you want. If I do, it won't be because I drove an Altima and didn't like it.

I believe the GTR will get a hybrid setup before the Z in my opinion, but I am all for a Z with electric assist however I do not see how they will hit even near the weight of the current Z with a hybrid setup and therefore will be problematic to the entire purpose of the Z line of cars.
