But once you take off with 80% throttle, I had to back off instantly so I can brake at the next light 300 feet away (about the distance of a block downtown here). What a pain lol...

yes 0.5 seconds feels slow. Like I said, "IMO". Especially when you like to play with the gears like I do....up up down down up down up upup down down down down up up up up down down up........the repeated use of torque converter makes it feel very laggy. You might not feel it driving normally, but with repeated use within a short timeframe, you would.

But it's just what you like...we're just all stating our opinions. You will never change my mind, just like I will never change yours. To me, the AT is slow, boring, disconnected, and incapable. To you, the 6MT is a hassle, slow, and tiring. We have different priorities when driving. We just need to enjoy our own cars that we spent our own money to buy.

oh and 7AT are for girls. :stirthepot::p j/k

So you can let go of throttle, depress clutch, move the shifter to the gear you want, let go of the clutch and hit the throttle in less than 0.5?

please record this. I would love to see this :excited:

and what the hell? saying its slow when you up down up down up down.

who in gods name is going to do this :roflpuke2:

And AT for girls? so the Zonda R is a girls car?

awesome. :stirthepot:

nitrouz' last car was a GT-R so he probably knows what's fast and what's not fast :)

I can powershift if I want (no-lift) on the 370z. Like I said, to me, the 7At feels very slow.

The up down up down up down I like to do on the street to hear my exhaust. And to have some fun. Yes I do that and jump gears just to hear the synchro rev match work the exhaust. :driving:

That AT for girls comments was meant to be a joke, hence the emoticon. No the Zonda is not a girl's car imo. I've driven the Zonda F and it's an amazing car.

Like I said, IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, the AT feels sluggish, slow, boring, and detached. You nor anyone else will change my opinion. Just like I can't change yours. So enjoy your car, yourself.

Vegitto-kun 02-20-2011 12:19 PM

You drove the zonda F?

lucky. the zonda cars are pretty much my favorite cars out there.

I would give my left leg if it would mean I could drive any zonda.

But if you give your left leg you'd have to drive a AT Zonda......which is slow, sluggish, detached, etc..... I kid I kid!! :bowrofl::tup:

Also, in the interest of Manual vs Auto: I will take an E-gear Gallardo or Murcielago over the Manual counterpart any day of the week. I am a firm believer of Sports Car = MT. However, the Italians with their silly gated shifter can make even me wish for the E-gear.

not according to these guys :ughdance::ugh2:

I agree with both you and USMCASA.

Not another MT v. AT argument

christian370z 02-20-2011 12:40 PM

I will admit the 7A/T in the 370z is very good, but I will never buy another automatic car again. I will be getting a short shifter for the Z this year I think, it will definitely help the somewhat rubbery and imprecise shifting of the 6MT.

I love feeling that I am getting the most power to the ground in the most direct manner possible, along with the fact that the 6MT can handle much more power reliably and is not as prone to overheating in spirited/track conditions.

NYBladeZ 02-20-2011 12:42 PM

The only thing that worries me about short shifters is that it could actually really screw up the transmission. I'll never forget that when I installed a Pro 5.0 shifter on my 2004 Mustang GT, which was done professionally, I was told after the tranny went that short shifters screw up tranny over time.

What?!? I have the auto and with the F.I. exhaust..I love the way it roars when I downshift with the paddles :excited: I can't compare it to the manual, but it can't sound that much different, can it?

I'll guess I'll stir the pot a bit and put in my 2 cents.

6MT 370Z = more fun, takes more skill to drive fast
7AT 370Z = seems to be quicker with the average driver

IIRC, #1, #3, #4, #8 spots are 6MT. :stirthepot:
