Dayum! Amazing that you survived, OP! My wife yelled at me after she looked at those pics of the accident. Women...

As the others said, glad to hear you (relatively) and your wife are ok!
Very unfortunate accident...

Too bad our Z's don't have the retracting brake pedal that's in the G's....
You mentioned your wife was taking pictures, so I assume she walked away without even a scratch?

I always envisioned a tangle between a Z and a truck would have the opposite survivors. It is all too common for the instigator of the crash to survive and the innocent die.

Sorry for the loss of life but grateful for you and the misses (wife) getting out alive. Heal quickly and may your career not be impacted.

My wife was in another car behind me. We were heading to go eat, then I was leaving from dinner to go straight to work. She's a photographer, so I told her to take pictures to get her mind off of me. She was close to losing it, so I had to do something to get her mind straight. Pictures were the perfect answer. Oh, and I didn't even have the time to take my foot off the accelerator. It all happened so fast, it was crazy.

We just got off the phone with the DPS Trooper that was working the accident. So far, no one know why he swerved into my lane. The reason for the fire was because of the odd impact. My nose manage to break their driveshaft, which then punctured their fuel tank severed the fuel lines, spraying fuel everywhere. The impact was so hard that the driver's side intrusion was all the way to the midline. The initial thought is that both were killed instantly at the time of the impact.

Both of the kids graduated with my daughter, to boot. The whole community's in shock right now, since we live in a town of about 7,000.

That explains your leg.

Many products our company makes are to make sure you can walk away from crashes like this, so I'm happy to see the safety features did their job!

Go big or go home, right?

Luckily, my wife's an EMT by training. I was one of her EMT instructors, so she can actually handle that kind of stuff. I had to force her into EMT-mode and out of wife-mode, so she didn't emotionally lose it on me.

Wow, that is amazing. Thank god you are OK. The Z has proven to be a very solid car with head-on collisions. I wish you a speedy recovery.

It's too bad about the two truck occupants. :(

tsolin01 02-19-2011 12:36 PM

Wow glad you're ok OP. It's sad that those kids were so young. Events like this remind us just how fragile life can be.

Holy ****, glad you're alive man!
