Very unrealistic for the Z current price range. Some people want everything for nothing. Would i say no to any upgrade not really but, for the price IMO there isn't a better looking/handling/or quicker car that does what the Z does and looks damn good while doing it.

I like how my z looks so I suppose the only change would be to offer smaller side mirrors. Those dumbo ears are just too dang huge. :D

True the mirrors are big but with them adjusted right the Z has no blind spots.

I would like to see an evolution of the 240Z body with a high output VQ25HR with a turbo option. In other words, slightly more compact dimensions (i.e., ESFLOW), lower weight, lower fuel economy, improve the fun to drive factor, and bring back the old Z DNA.

Pretty tall order for what the Z is. Not that I wouldn't like a lot of those changes, it's just kind of unrealistic I think.

You dont have to look much further than JDM versions of past Nissans for much of these items. Not terribly unrealistic however market in US probably doesnt support these types of options like Japan or Europe would.

The PDK option on Porsches is a $1600 option. Japanese manufactures have always been good at developing similar technologies at cheaper price than their German counterparts. I would bet that PDK like shifting system is coming soon. Heck Mitsubishi already has one on the EVO.

I'm sure that because of fuel standards Nissan is already looking at ways to lighten the car.

No just the occasional rattle from the hatch.

Mitsubishi EVO has much of this.

Actually it really doesnt rev quickly and power band dies out as it climbs. Its a nice torquey motor but I'd like a quicker reving motor in a sports car. it should boogie all the way to redline. This one is more like a truck motor.

Yes similar to EVO dual clutch.

Not a huge cost to put this in. Very simple actually!

I'd like a more systematic fix. that doesnt require an aftermarket oil cooler.

Z06 uses 6 piston front. I'd like to see a lightweight 2 pc option as well.

Plenty of past premium model Z cars with Turbos at prices not that far over base. There is still room for a turbo Z below the GTR. I dont want a 4000 lb AWD 2+2 coupe. ...Ack!

They all have it. Many professional reviewers in US, Japan and Europe have commented on same issue.

Nope think all these elements would be nice upgrades for a more premium version of the car. Perhaps Nismo 2.0

Niche79 02-18-2011 01:10 PM

Im just looking on the outside in while I wait for the right time to pounce, but after my drive of the car, I think its great. Only negative I even saw which was a WTF moment to me was the fuel gage which has already been stated. I was like really....dots? Sounds great, handles good, looks mean, what more could I want in a future car? Not like my Hondas are getting replaced by new Honda sports cars which brought me to Nissan in the first place, good looking sports cars!!!!

2. Fix the rear hatch rattle.

3. Put real sport seats with ability to accept 6 point harness belts

4. Rework the motor to deliver better top end performance. It should scream all the way to redline. Not top out 500 to 1000 RPM before redline. Make it more rev happy! Current motor spins up way too slow.

5. Introduce a paddle shift manual transmission similar to Porsche PDK

6. Offer car with suspension adjustments which allow at least -3 degrees of camber

7. Make sure the car doesnt have oil cooling issues from the factory

8. No fuel starve issues

9. Brembo or Stop Tech brake option

10. Drop weight to 3000 lbs.

11. Offer a special edition turbo. .....Please!

12. Eliminate that dang drivetrain vibration that both 350 and 370 have.

13. Do something to stop the rear wheel hop issue that both the 350 and 370 have had.

1. I personally think the front end looks fine on the regular Z, Although I do like the front of the NISMO as well

2. Not a big deal for me

3. What car for less than $50k has a seat that can accept a six point harness from the factory? I can't think of any. I can think of a few that have some provisions for a four point harness but even those would still need at least a harness bar.

4. Most engines top out a bit before red line. I agree with making it more rev happy though. Easily remedied with a lighter flywheel, but Nissan will never do it cause the stock one helps reduce NVH.

5. Only if they keep the 6MT, I think the semi auto is awesome but I would still want a real manual in my sports car.

6. Would be nice for the track enthusiast, but the average buyer doesn't need that kind of adjustment range. Maybe have it as an option for sport/NISMO models

7. I agree

8. Again, I would agree, maybe put some well placed baffles in the tank?

9. As an option ok, otherwise it starts causing the price to creep up (along with a lot of the other suggestions)

10. With all the safety equipment required in cars these days I don't see that happening unless it goes up in price.

11. GT-R, Nissan most likely won't do a turbo Z with the GT-R around (at least not in the States).

12. That would probably require a complete redesign to the transmission which would again add to the price since they now need to recoup expenses for that

13. More suspension tuning would solve it, but again it will cost you more money.

You have a lot of good ideas, but again unless the car goes up in the market there isn't much that could justify adding it to an already slow selling car. If they made the changes and kept it at the same price there would be more sales but i doubt very little if any profit would be made. Now if you made these changes and increased the price to 45-50k then I could see it make a marginal profit again, but it would still be the same slow seller that it has been. Most of those fixes can be done aftermarket, which is why the aftermarket industry exists. You've already stated you are going to be modifying the car so just address those issues and have the car you want. I know I plan on changing some things eventually to suit myself.

:iagree:. I will be waiting until fall 2012 for a brand new or better yet a year old car to cash in on that depreciation. that's also when I will have at least a few points dropped from my insurance and have a better judgment on my financial standing and the prospective car.

Also,
1. People take it easy on all the negative comments. This is meant to improve on the current car not to degrade it or bash on it. If you already own one, great. You already own an excellent car. Don't feel bad, you know can't stop progress.

2. "Zit" seriously?? I know right. I meant Z -it. get it?- Z. It. Funny thing is I didn't know the true meaning of Zit, until after I created the account.

3. And finally, this thread is for things you want to see in the upcoming z that's expected to be slightly refreshed. Not a whole new next generation z. So, please try to keep your wish list as practical as possible.
