What a day
Yesterday was an awesome day. lol It started off with hearing my dog in front of my house barking. When I went outside I seen he had encountered the mailman. Its a friendly great dane, normally. Anyways the guy said he got bit on his shoulder. It looked like a scratch. He was mad but only concerned that it had its rabies vaccination. Then I decide to break the Z out of the garage. When I start it up it cranks and cranks but doesnt start, I open the hood and find a sock , plastic bag, and newspaper clippings sitting between the engine and the cold air intake. They've been chewing on the wires that run along the intake manifold. Only one bare wire on each side is actually showing. They just ate the wrapping. I do see some rat sh#t on the plastic underpanel. As of now the car will start but is missing. I took the intakes off and looked around in that area. And also the manifold cover. Im just wondering if there was a wire underneath that could have been chewed on that I wont be able to see without removing the plastic.
I submitted a claim through geico as I heard they will cover such incidents...waiting for a response. :shakes head: |
I suppose rodent infestation is a good argument to drive rather than store your Z all winter. Sorry for the bad day.
That's about a crazy story or day as stated. I'm sorry for you. My girlfriends car had a rats nest in before when I went to change the oil. Pretty crazy. Theres always tomorrow though.
Fun day for you. Good luck with your claim. Maybe set up some rat traps or something.
I officially have a case of the creeps.
That's a bummer man. |
its looking better lol Geico has a tow truck coming to pick the car up in the morning. Instead of using my tax return for tires and springs, ill be getting tires and an insurance deductable :) lmao

no pics?
Use moth balls, they hate them sh**s
no pics lol Couldn't bring myself to take any
Rodents! They made a nest in my wife's car (she ended up barbequeing one of them), ate through some wiring in the shifter of my parents' subaru, and ate through the strings of my hammock so I fell on my a$$ when I first put it up last summer.
Looks like we could all use a few cats to patrol our cars. |

good idea lol since the dog only protects me from the mail man

I don't have rodents so far but this is one reason why I stopped using car covers and pop the hoods often to ck during hibernation. Mothballs seems to have only limited effect. I had crushed mothballs under my trash bag on trash day and they still tore a hole in the bags.

So I suppose rats like Nissan wiring just like Honda's. I will have to replace the knock sensor wire harness on my girls Accord this week due rats chewing the wire. Sucks cause the whole intake manifold has to come off. What's funny is that the new harness is wrapped with rat tape.
^ must be a growing problem lol
Rats are a strange kind of problem; they eat wiring. What kind of wiring provides any nutrition? If anything they'll just die of heavy metal poisoning.
lol

Don't worry schrack, I hear new wiring harnesses add something like 20 WHP!
You'll have her back before you know it. |
schrack- damn that sucks. :( so are you going to own a few cats new? :icon17:
no cats yet lol the dcon has fixed the problem they said it tastes better than the z :tiphat:
well....i got the car back today ! all nice and clean
the bill came out to about $2800.00 between a new wiring harness, spark plugs, and some hoses. I only had to pay $500 as insurance covered the rest. Also went and got the new tires mounted :happydance: |
^^ congrats on the return schrack! now enjoy.
Also drive it more often. Then the rats won't squat in your engine bay.
