my 40th got hit by a snow truck

So this is how it begin.
The parking security phoned me at 5am today. I was shocked that who can this be at this time. Yes, the bad news is my Z got scartched on the front bumper, fender, and the driver side tires. The bumper sticks out for about 3cm. I am hoping the the bolts are not broken otherwise they are going to pay for more. If I get a replace of a front bumper, I will consider if aftermarket ones work.. well, the tire, what would I say about it. It is a special order from the US and takes about 2 weeks to get here. If is bad luck just as nowadays, the snow storm, these tires runs out quickly. If that happen, I can't even drive. The funny part is, I got hit by a snow truck. I don't know if that guy is drunk or just not paying attention. I met with this guy and then the parking security and the police came, he is even making fun of it. Gosh, I just couldn't understand how can he be like that when doing such a mistake.. I don't want to get too much from the insurance company cause I know they are not going to pay for it. The good thing is the owner of that company are going to pay for everything that they have done to my Z..I guess is gonna get busy these weeks.

And I will post the picture of what is damaged....

kenchan 02-03-2011 07:13 AM

Damn, sorry to hear. The village should be able to reimburse you. Talk to your insurance agent. That's the first step to recovery.

SPOHN 02-03-2011 07:16 AM

Try to get a body kit out of it. That's what they get for being stupid. In for pics.

ChrisSlicks 02-03-2011 07:29 AM

Provided you can name the party that imposed the damage the insurance company absolutely would pay and usually with no deductible. The insurance company then goes after the vehicle owner or company for reimbursement.

wheee! 02-03-2011 07:35 AM

ouch! Sad to hear you have to park outside all year. I am SOOOOO glad I have a garage for RoZy! Hope you get everything fixed better than new. At least it will be thicker paint this time!

Lemers 02-03-2011 08:33 AM

Don't get too upset at the snow truck driver for joking about it. He is under a lot of stress right now. He's concerned about the damage and his job. The joking is how he is trying to manage his stress. Just be glad he reported it so the company can take care of it.

cheshirecat 02-03-2011 08:53 AM

Pictures, please.

PapoZalsa 02-03-2011 08:55 AM

WOW, and is a 40th!

Lemers 02-03-2011 09:11 AM

Don't forget about deminished value of the car (if they have that in Canada). Your car just dropped in value the moment the accident occured

From one 40th owner (who also got hit) to another, its going to take time. I took my 40th right to the dealership to get it fixed. Definitely go through your insurance , they will deal with the plow companies insurance agents so that you wont have to do to much. If you need to get new rims for the 40th its going to take at least two weeks to get it ordered and shipped. Mine needed a new rear bumper, new back rim and the entire left side to be painted over again, took 3 weeks. Take it to an adjuster, have them put in a claim, get the green light from your insurance company to find the right shop to fix your car ( i suggest taking it to a dealership ), THEN you need to get a rental through the plow companies insurance which is a hassle ( you have to do this yourself). its going to take some time for all the parts to be delivered so the most stressful thing about this is the wait.....hang in there and goodluck

SoCal 370Z 02-03-2011 03:27 PM

Just once I'd like to read about a snow truck/plow getting hit by a 370Z!

P.S. Sorry to hear about your Z...that sucks.

younter 02-03-2011 04:15 PM

Here are the photo that I am taking. To be honest, I never dealt with accident like this. I would say, first time happens to me. The thing is I don't want to get bother with the insurance company that leaves a mark on the paper. I just want her to go clean.

Here is the damage on the bumper and fender. As you can see it sticks out. If is not lucky, the whole front is going to get replaced. I donno how much the paint with cost for 40th. I guess not low..

Here are the damage for the tires. You see, is flat. cause there is a hole. These are the winter tires. I usually don't drive in winter but for emergency, I put it on. And is my only baby. The thing is, I was going to switch to a indoor parking. Due to the fullness, I have to wait till some empty spot. I just got a call yestuday that there is one spot ready for me to park and I should be able to do all the paper work and fees adjustment for today morning. Who knew, this came up. I already parked my Z like 20 feet away from other cars. IS totally empty like 10m around me. Just didn't expect that the snow truck..Well, I got the whole plan and going to visit my parents during mid Feb. Since this thing hold up my time, I couldn't get out of it. Just wait till al fixed up then i will see what to do. :icon14:

ChrisSlicks 02-03-2011 04:53 PM

Don't worry, the paint on the 40th is nothing out of the ordinary, just a limited edition color from Nissan on this vehicle. All body shops mix their own paint and will color match exactly.

wheee! 02-03-2011 04:54 PM

Wow.... that sucks.

Nice headlights by the way...!

Footloose301 02-03-2011 04:55 PM

I believe this is punishable by death in some states.

younter 02-03-2011 05:03 PM

im glad that the headlights were ok.

Rui Z 02-03-2011 05:26 PM

That sucks. The headlight housing costs about $1500 each, so make sure you take a close look at whether they were damaged. My claims adjusters missed the headlight damage on my car, so I had to go back and point it out to them.

I think the stealth color of the 40th helps blend the car in with the pavement. As a result, people are don't see it and hit it.

SPOHN 02-03-2011 05:58 PM

Love your tire/ wheel setup.

CERBERUSlucid 02-03-2011 06:15 PM

=( so sad…

GL with the repairs bro! I'd be waiting outside for the next snow truck to pass by to blow it up

blue660r01 02-03-2011 06:17 PM

It could always be worse

CERBERUSlucid 02-03-2011 06:26 PM

ˆFAIL on soooooo many levels...

younter 02-03-2011 06:30 PM

wow..I am glad im not in that situation......

sonic370 02-03-2011 07:23 PM

it hurts to see a 370 with any damage. but it can be repaired.

sometimes it seems like these cars have a big sign on them that says

"hey hear i am smash me"

spearfish25 02-03-2011 07:27 PM

If that were my car, I'd go down there with a baseball bat and go apeshit on both the tow truck and the front loader. Realistically though with this video, that will be a nice settlement the owner gets from the city.

It looks like your Z just has the tire and front fascia damage. Get them to replace both the tire the fascia with a new ones. There is also a screw that secures the fascia located in the front of the wheel well under the liner. Check that this is OK as it may have been torn out and they'll need to repair/replace the front left fender too.

98intrigue 02-04-2011 09:39 AM

I see more damaged 40ths on this board than all the other colors combined :(

Good luck on a speedy recovery for the 40th!

sorry to hear about that dude !

younter 02-04-2011 04:43 PM

Well, now I took the Z to the body shop and the estimate cost without replaceing the tire is $2100..The tire should be another $600 ish since it is winter tire..not cheap at all... I got a rental of a red Hyundai Sonata..Gosh, It feels so uncomfortable compare to Z..

kenchan 02-04-2011 04:51 PM

ouch on the repair cost, ouch on getting a hyundai as rental. :(

yeah such a shame since the 40th model is the least produced one.

Red__Zed 02-04-2011 06:16 PM

Bummer. Sorry about the damage.

toner123 02-04-2011 06:19 PM

Man I am so sorry to hear this and wish there was something I could do. I will be replacing my front bumper soon so if for some reason you need one let me know. Nothing wrong with it, just would need to be painted to your color
Frank
