Need some help...radiator fans

I recently had my radiator core and fans replaced, and I've noticed that I haven't seen either of the fans running since the replacement. It's at or below freezing here in Chicago, so it may just not be tripping the thermostat to turn them on. However, I swear at least one of them always ran and the second always came on with the AC compressor regardless of the ambient temps. My concern is the mechanic didn't hook something up correctly.

Can a few of you guys in both warm and cold ambient temps comment on what your radiator fans are doing? I'd like to know the ambient temp, which fan(s) is running, and if the AC compressor is on or off in each situation (light for AC illuminated or dark in the center of the left climate control dial).

Thanks in advance.

i cant run my 370Z until spring but one thing you can try is race your engine while parked3K RPM for 10sec at a time x10 cycles and watch your water temp.

i do this after coolant changes to remove airbubbles and usually the radiator fan turns on. if the water temp goes past the middle mark then obviously it's overheating...

I believe that is the way they work. One for the engine, the other for the A/C. Turn on the A/C, and both will run(engine on also).

I'll give that a try but I'm highly suspicious something is wrong. After driving 15min home from work and 180F oil temps, neither fan is blowing. The coolant temp is still one light left of middle as usual.

I also remember the AC compressor and second fan coming on any time the AC light is illuminated in the left climate control dial. Even turning the temp down to 60 doesn't kick the compressor on...but I'm not 100% certain it would given my garage is about 45F.

spearfish- turn your havc to defroster/defog mode. that should kick in your a/c.

^I'll try it this afternoon. Thanks.

your engine fan wont come on until the coolant temp hits like around 200 and the a/c fan only comes on with the a/c on. sounds like your fine from the way you describe it.

You guys were on target. Revving to 3k for a couple minutes got both fans to kick on. I couldn't get the AC compressor to come on, but I figure the car's ambient temp sensor is keeping it from starting up. No need for a compressor when the coldest interior temp is 60F and it's 28F outside. Crisis averted.

Now that you've gotten valuable help, I can post the pun I've been holding in all day.

Fan of radiators? I followed them thru 3 states on their tour last summer.
