370z Owners - PLEASE LOOK HERE. URGENT.
The dealership I'm getting my 370z from is putting me in a very affordable car. The catch? It has a rebuilt title. According to the auction they are getting it from (Manhiem) the unit only sustained right side damage (It was rear ended.):happydance:
2010 Nissan 370z 1,840 miles Severe rear end damage. I don't have a CarFax, (they don't even know if they want to get it because they didn't inspect frame damage yet.) and I don't know if the car has Frame Damage. :ughdance: Based off the following pictures, would you buy it? -- They are waiting for my response so that they can make an offer to the Insurance companies. I also have the VIN number if someone can please help me make sure this unit does not have a REPORTED frame damage. What are the differences between a Salvaged Title and Rebuild-able Title? http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...70Z---PIC5.jpg http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...70Z---PIC4.jpg http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...70Z---PIC3.jpg http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...70Z---PIC2.jpg http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...70Z---PIC1.jpg |

Looks like another one of those "VDC Off" victims...

I just want to make sure I'm not putting my life and pockets at risk here guys. This is why I posted the pictures first before I asked them to make an offer to the Insurance companies.
I appreciate the responses, I e-mailed my contact and told her to find something else. Can anyone else chime in on why this is a bad idea? 1800 miles.... ****.... I guess patience is what I need here. |

BAD IDEA- I would bet my Z that car will NEVER ride the same again. Its a GREAT parts vehicle, but sadly, that car has no business being on the road. You can thank your patience when you find something better than this mess of a car.
|
Once the frame is no good the car is basically useless...
No point in trying to drive a car that's frame got rear ended + rear wheel drive car. No Good.... |
Pro Tips, Pro Tips. Thanks guys.
So, I told them to add the Nismo so their search. Because this is a Nissan community and I care about all of you, I won't say "I hope someone defaults on their Nismo Loan." |

No, I personally would not buy a car thats been wrecked. I work on BMW's for a living at a dealer, when a car comes in thats been thru a body shop theres never any telling what your going to get into. Albeit there not all bad and you do have body shops that will take all the right steps to repair a car thats been wrecked and get it back to OEM standards. In my experience though, those are rare rare instances few and far between. These cars are new and relatively easy to find if you bide your time and look around, wait and get one that hasn't been hit.

I wouldn't buy for $32.5K but I would for $500.
|
i'd buy it for like <8k

You need to get the paperwork from the insurance company that initially wrote it off. This paperwork "should" be explicit as to why they wrote it off. The photographs you posted are likely from that insurance company. Also, CARFAX means nothing. So much can be hidden—and is by those in the business.
|
no way
|
It appears to be repairable but it is going to get expensive. Don't buy it expecting there only to be $5K in repairs. Could be lots of expensive hidden damage. Frankly, for the price they would have to sell the car for it would be better to part it out.
Salvage title is a big problem in many states. Some states will let you register a vehicle with a salvage title, others won't unless you can provide documentation that it was repaired with all OEM parts at a registered body shop. Salvage may remain on the title which plummets the value of the car. If you're building a track car that may be no big deal if you never intend to register it. |

I had similar damage to a past car but my fenders were not as mangled. My repair bill was almost $9k. This one is probably significantly more than that being a rear wheel drive car and all the extra body work that will be needed.
Don't buy this car! |

The air bags deployed that thing got slammmmedddd... give up on find a cheap z unleaa your looking ib the for sale section of this forum.
|
How much do they want for it?
If there's frame damage, it's a bit iffy... |
It might be worth $5k at best as is, if it cost you another $10k to repair it (ask for an estimate from a reputable shop), and with a salvage title you'd already be upside down on resale value, but you'd have a cheap car that you could run for years. salvaged titles can be very hard to sell.
|
They are looking for a SUCKER, DO NOT DO IT!!!
|
another one bites the dust. people should have to pass an IQ and a drivers test to buy a sports car.. and with only 1800 miles on it.....
besides with a salvaged title around here most dealers wouldn't even consider it when it came time to trade.......... |
The title is rebuildable. Not salvaged.
|
But yeah. I walked away. Now I wait longer for a car. Legit though. That guy got a sportpackage then wrecks it.

Looks more like someone hit him. Or he is an idiot
