yes, you have high credibility for being slow. :icon17: ;)

Thanks Scott. I'm sure once I hit the track, I'll miss the GTR. But like I said, I'm buying this car with the intention of being a fun street car / DD. Hence my choice.

The 370Z is a blast on the track, certainly not as fast but very enjoyable and plenty of driver involvement and feedback. Sure it has it's shortcomings but as long as you know what they are by reading these forums they can almost all be dealt with.

That's true. It doesn't feel fast for daily driving, and that's what I miss from the DE. There's a certain feeling that I'm missing, but hopefully I can get it back after force feeding it :driving:

jep, plenty fast for street, but not super fast so keeps it entertaining. imho about 300hp is about right for most cars to be entertaining for street while keeping everything legal.

nothing more boring than driving a fast car slow.

Right. So what was that about my DD being slow? Been there, done that, with the 300rwhp cars.

Nitrouz 01-07-2011 12:47 AM

just drifted through some corners on my way home....man I missed these controlled and prolonged drifts.....it's so much fun!

OP did you ever do a break job on the gtr ? Thats a reason alone to re consider the gtr.

this is misleadng info as well. I know the dealership charges upwards of $6k for a brake job. But who goes to the dealership for these things anyways?

I've only had to change my front pads after track days. $400.

I really don't have anything to say against that, lol. It is a bit more sluggish than I thought it would be.

yah, when i bought the G20 new at the time, i thought it was a great dd... was lowered on coilovers, had 17" wheels, lip spoiler, nice Remus looking muffler, nakamichi HU with 7CD changer and MB Quart setup i installed, everyone complimented how it looked and how awesome the stereo sounded.

until problems started here and there and then repeated itself. so much for 'born in japan' i thought. must have been that 'raised in europe' part that killed it. :icon17:

kenchan 01-07-2011 03:01 PM

back to 370Z review...

That was one of the main reasons I bought another Z when it was time to upgrade...

Indeed. Mine has had the issues. At any rate, everything in it is new now, lol.

Congrats on the Z, man.

I read through the entire thread and your points sound very reasonable. I've owned different cars as well, and I too feel home in the Z.

Cool story bro...

I would trade my Z on a GTR any day of the week and I'm sure a lot of the guys on here would also.

Thanks for living my dream. :-P

Yea but those guys who don't know what a socket wrench is get bent over at the dealer.

those guys usually wouldn't buy a GTR. Wrong demographic.

Guys, I have been thinking of trading my beloved 2015 Z in for a GTR, but after reading this thread I am again rethinking what I should do.

I am in Australia, and I can pick up a used GTR, either 08, 09 or 10 model for around $85-100K.

Or should I just spend $25K or so on building my Z into TT? How much would it cost to make the Z as fast and as reliable as a GTR?

I love my Z, but I wouldn't mind the pedigree of the GTR. It would be one of my Ultimate dream cars.

I would consider making my Z into a TT, but how much does it need to be pushed to get it at GTR level of speed? How reliable is it going to be? It will be my daily driver and I will also track it atleast a few times a year.

Should I worry about maintaining such a Z, or should I just get a GTR. But also, I must consider insurance for the GTR, and servicing costs. Does this sound about rite for GTR service costs:

Car Servicing Cost & Price Guide for a Nissan R35 GT-R 3.8 - carservice.com.au

Oh I know the OP said he didn't like being looked at when he picks his nose in a GTR, but me I wouldn't mind the attention lol.

laserbluemini 11-01-2016 08:11 PM

I am in Markham(toronto) and the 370 is already too fast for our street(traffic everywhere). would love a GTR but 1. i cant afford it. 2. nowhere to use its potential except track which i have never been to. lol
