Suggestions needed. Live in Ohio and is hasn't snowed in awile

Streets look like they have no salt on them. Okay to take the 370z out. Would like some opinions please. Thanks

salt/snow or not, if you have stock tires, the compound in the rubber gets real hard in cold weather. which means less traction. As long are you arent pushing the car (taking corners at 50mph) i think you'll be fine.

What Liquid said. I drove mine for the first time in a month yesterday. Waited for some rain to wash away the salt and made sure my route to work was clear.

you'll be fine, numerous people here dd their car with the stock summer tires through the winter. I did it last winter and was fine but +1 to what liquid g said.

I should take mine out but I won't. It's immaculate and in the garage for the winter and I just don't want it to get less than perfect and have to wash it and store it all over again. I'll just sit in it for a while and listen to some music and dream of April.
Hope others are smarter than i am!

I'm here in ohio too for winter break from college and i've been taking my dad's pontiac solstice out w/ summer tires and been driving it hard the past couple days, youre safe bud nothing to worry about, watch out tho the news was talking about some snow possibly tomorrow

I am driving in my Z again and its just barely not freezing.

drives pretty fine.

onzedge 01-05-2011 06:36 PM

My suggestion is that you load all the personal belongings you can fit in your Z and then leave Ohio. Go west or south and this becomes a nonissue. I am trying to help. I am a people person.

Leave VDC on :)

You may not see the salt, but its there. It dries up and gets all over the car, under it and even in engine bay. If you really want to keep your car clean, I wouldn't suggest you take it out.

Ohio winter are the worst. I wish they used sand or something else instead.

sonic370 01-05-2011 08:01 PM

nothing against ohio. but i'm glad i live in texas...

only thing we put salt on is our food....
and sand is only found at the beach........

It's a damn car, drive it! Put some good winter tires on and just wash the salt of every now and then, no reason why you can't enjoy the car year round. That's what
I do. It's not a 1970's Alfa Romeo...
